Clueless B&O virgin, how to connect BEOLAB 4500 speakers?

    Hi there,

    HELP

I have recently moved into a new appartment, on the wall are 4 BEOLAB 4500 active speakers, they are beautifull, there is however nothing else.

The cables to the speakers run in the walls to a central point.

I do not own a TV and do not intend to either. What do I need to connect these fantastic speakers to my music found on my MAC book Pro/IPOD.

    Do I need a PreAmp?

    I have aquired a beo4 remote.

If you could advise me, I would be most appreciative.

    Thank you,

    Paul.

Paul, suggest you go for any single CD based stereo - 2300, 2500, Ouverture, 3000 or 3200 and use the AUX input to connect your equipment to from a 3.5mm jack.  These stereos all support Powerlink outputs for your LAB4500's.

Thanks, I thought something like that would be required.

    Paul.

Since the late 80's PowerLink is beeing used as B&O standard connecton to connect active speakers
like the BLb 4500 to B&O Audio and TVs.

This gives you freedom of choice to go for new equipment e.g. BeoSound 4 or a variety of pre-owned
    audio and/or TV equipment.

PS - wish I did not sell mine ...

    Yes!

Be aware that the Ouverture was introduced mid 90's
    - so it possibly has beeing used for 15 years and might
    need some service ...

    Hi Ralf,

What does your wife charge to send them to Begium(antwerp 2020) or London(W11 1TQ).

I can only assume that it works properly :)

    cheers,

    Paul.

    Hello Paul,

sure it works! See the auction for details, we answered your question there as well.

It is 29,90 Euro via Hermes (insured).

    Pauldeclercq:

The cables to the speakers run in the walls to a central point.

First the type of cables coming from the BL4500 has to be determined! Are the PowerLink (you got 2 DIN plugs), are they SpeakerLink plugs or are they line connectors

Depending of the type  you can or have to choose a system. For example for the Ouverture it is necessary to have Powerlink cables.

Is it easy to reinstall new speaker cables?

Carolpa is absolutely right, none of us asked about the cable type being installed.

    You can check this easily:

    - PowerLink - DIN 8pin

    - SpeakerLink - DIN 4pin (3 pin + 1 spade)

    - Line - RCA/Cinch concentrical (1 ring-shaped + 1 central pin)
