    Yes, should work with a BS3000 in A.OPT 1 or 2 as an audiomaster and 2nd BS3000 in A.OPT 5 or 6 as a local source.

Any other thoughts on this? I am considering adding a Beosound 9000 to my system. Dealer tells me that I could not make the 9000 the audiomaster as long as a 3000 is in the system. Reason given is that the 3000 does not have the software to function as a local source.

In the BS3000 Option 5 and 6 have been introduced in Sw version 3.4, starting from serialnumber 17511872. Most probably you have an earlier version.

Thanks!  My dealer is telling me that it does not matter what software the 3000 has, that the 3000 can never be used as a local source and that there is no software version that will allow it to be used as a local source. If I am understanding what you are saying option 5 or 6 would allow it to function as a local source, if my Beosound 3000 allows those options to be set?

    your dealer isn't informed correctly!

It depends on the combination serialnumber (must be > as described) and the sw version.

If both apply you can use the BS3000 as a local source.

Your dealer is definately wrong! Did you try A.OPT 5 (or 6) ? The stdby LED will flash to confirm the option programming. Now you can control your BS3000 as a local source, only in the linkroom, and you can access your main room audio sources (A.OPT 5) or your audio- and video sources (A.OPT 6). If I remember correctly BS3000s with small clamper are the earlier ones - to be upgraded - and for the later ones with large clamper the link room options should work.

Dealer has done some more checking and does think it will work, although my Beosound 3000 needs a an updated chip. I do not currently have Option 5 and 6. 3000 going in for update Monday.

    Re: 2 x Beosound 3000

it does work, both BS3000 need to be on the software level that has N.Music and N.Radio,  then put one into option 0 as this is the master,  the other one disconnect from the masterlink plug in speakers and then option it to A.Opt 6,  then switch off and connect to ML and power up

    So I now have  1 BS3000 master and 1 as a slave
