    blank delay adjustment?

I have a BeoSystem 1 connected to a BeoVision 4. The only way I can get a video signal from the blu-ray player is to first select the blu-ray player (command "DVD"), wait for it to power up, then switch to another source (e.g. "TV"), THEN switch back to the blu-ray player. My guess is that the blu-ray player's start-up time takes too long for the BeoSystem 1 to detect the signal.

Is there a way to adjust the BS1's time that it allows to detect a video signal? Could this be what the "BLANK DELAY ADJUSTMENT" is for under "US BOX SERVICE MENU" in the BS1 service menu?

    Re: blank delay adjustment?

I've replaced the blu-ray player with one that has an extremely fast start-up time. Still, this problem persists. The same problem happens with the Apple TV signal and s-video vcr signal, too. When there is a blank screen on the BeoVision 4 (D7 panel), if I hit "menu" "menu" I then get an image. My Avant in a different room has no problem with the same sources. On the Avant I get an instant video image, complete with the electronic curtains.

Suggestions for changing any settings in the service menu of the BeoSystem 1 to get a proper signal with electronic curtains? Anyone?

I don't have an immediate answer for you, but will be working on it over the next few weeks as I am in the middle of a room redo.

I stumbled on the menu-menu trick as well when I found myself in the same situation w/ a BS1->BV4 and a Beo4.

The (somewhat) lazy route I took in the past was to program the delays via macros w/ a Logitech remote (Beo5).

As a last resource ... sometimes a "reset to factory default" helps to cure strange behaviour ...

!! warning - keep records of all your settings - you'll have to restore your setting up from scratch

It's reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. I'd be very interested in hearing about any solutions you find. With B&O, you'd expect to just press "dvd" on the Beo4 and have everything work -- not to have to hit a lot of goofy buttons to get an image. The whole reason I chose a Beovision 4 was to avoid such problems and have perfect integration with the BeoSystem 1.

    Re: blank delay adjustment?

Update... finally got around to repositioning the BS1/BV4 with the room redo.

I hooked it up and got everything running just last night. I will now have time to spend sorting this (these) issues out.

To get my head back into it, I searched here and found (2) good threads that touch on this or similar issues. I am going to concentrate on the CONTROL/DATA settings first.

I will post back when I know more.

Here are the links to the other threads in the meantime... ONE and TWO.

    Re: blank delay adjustment?

Update... Using the 0/10/560 entry solved the problem I had w/ the panel turning off.

The startup issue persists. I have set the BS1 to having a Zektor switch, which I read somewhere? would trick the BS1 into looking at the component connections first. I have not had a chance to see if this works yet w/o the Zektor in place.

UD: Couldn't get it to work, so I moved on to installing the Zektor.

I have also purchased a Zektor switch which I will install after testing the above. From what I have read, the Zektor seemingly solves these problems.

UD: Installed the Zektor... it seems to work OK manually, but my Beo4 could not control it.

No improvement on startup -still had to do the MENU trick for now.

I will probably stick w/ the lazy route and use my Logitech where I can program the trick in.

If anything changes I will let you know.

    OK.

    Finally got it.

Try and set yours to 0/10/558 to start (mine is currently set to: 0/12/558) and let us know.

The middle number is the timing from start up to the launch of the curtains.

10 is default. My adjustment to 12 added (2) seconds to the curtain launch to remove a small hiccup in the video. It now works perfectly!

From the initial button click to display takes about 20 seconds. Long, but it works.

I don't understand how the "BLANK DELAY ADJUSTMENT" functions, so I left it alone.

Where do you input those numbers in the menu?

    Re: blank delay adjustment?

Sorry... long post locked up and lost! Super Angry

1.) Do the menu-menu trick to get the main menu up

2.) Press 0 0 GO to enter the service menu

    3.) Select 1 MONITOR

    4.) Select 7 PROJ/SCREEN SETUP

    5.) Enter numbers here...

    PROJ/SCREEN 0

    DELAY (SEC) 10

    CONTROL/DATA 558

    6.) Press GO to save

Now, try again. Give it some time to do its thing -mine takes ~20 seconds

You can change the CONTROL/DATA from 556 through 560 to best match your SW/HW rev.
