    Updates/Upgrades for BL3

Hello, I am thinking of a switch from a pair of BL8000 to four BL3s for sorround, etc and perhaps a BL11.

There are used ones of BL3 on the net for approx 70% of the price of new ones but they are from 2006. Does anyone know if there has been any updates och upgrades since 2006 of the speakers?

    Re: Updates/Upgrades for BL3

    Hej Ingvar

I´ve heard those who think the BL3 is a big waste to have as a rear-speaker in a sorround setup.

They are very nice looking but - Why dont keep the BL8000 as rear.

    Just my opinion.....Smile

There has not been an upgrade and one isn't needed.

I think the BL3 front and BL8000 rear as suggested would look a little funny....

    Hi

I think Hebo is right. It sounds like overkill to have BL3 as rear speakers. BL3 is almost as good as BL8000, some say they are better. I think you could get away with something cheaper for the rear from some other company.

I think BeoLab 3's are more detailed and a little faster than the Beolab 8000's. I also think they're better at low frequencies. Beolab 8000's are a bit smoother.

    Hi

Yes, they are quite equal in performance, I believe. It is probably very dependent of the environment where the speaker act. I can not say that I have heard BL3 sounding better than BL8000 though (in any setup). The sound from BL8000 and BL3 seems to be very matched to each other, so I think they would work great together in a surround setup. It would probably be overkill for most people, both are so very fine stereo speakers. The prices seem to have gone up these days in a way that it is questionable if they are worth it today though, specially for BL8000.

    Re: Updates/Upgrades for BL3

Hello Again. Actually I suddenly got OK from the wife for a new 10-46 which will arrive on monday Stick out tongue.

The plan for BL3s in the back is that they will then fill up the whole room and also make sound out in the kitchen/diningroom. I guess the BS5/BM5 can play in some music mode for all speakers via the BV10-46 so there will be a stereopicture with 2 left and 2 right of the BL3s. Is that correct anyone?
