Dark picture on BV4 with SW 8.05

    Hi all

Just a heads up, don't update your BS3 SW to the latest version(started from 8.05) if you are using a BV4 Plasma screen. I had mine upgraded, and since then, the picture is very dark when turning the tv on, i can get the picture to its normal self again with either one of 3 methods.

    1. Placing a hand on the lightsensor for aprox 5 seconds.

    2. Running Automatic Color Management manually

    3. Adjusting the contrast setting in picture menu(by one click), this doesn't wotk always.

SW 8.12 has not solved this issue, so i must wait until the next SW is released.

Re: Dark picture on BV4 with SW 8.05

    Hi!

    Same thing for me.

My dealer flashed my BV9 yesterday with sw 8.12 and it did not solve the problem.

He checked in the B&O intranet, this problem is mentioned in the "known issues" section... without any delay for correction of the default and no work-around.

    We have to wait, unfortunately.

No solution yet, i have written directly to B&O and they have not responded yet !

Maybe if we all wrote to them ?

I have been in contact with my dealer today, and a new SW fixing this problem is expected in about a month from today, they offered me a service release which is basically a Beta version, but since i have to drive 600km to get i flashed, i will wait until the final release :)

My BV50/BS3 was updated with the latest sw (8.xx) when it was installed a few months ago and I thought it was dark as well, but since it was a new TV to me...I didn't know that it was not supposed to look that way! I hope we get a sw fix soon, thanks Weebyx.

I experience the dark picture bug also in the version 8.12a of my Beosystem 3 just updated. It's random, sometimes clear imagine, sometimes dark,i noticed it happens also during watching tv!!!!The funny things is that when the technician came it was all ok....

I think It's something about the contrast, when i go to modify it,it repair the bug screen..

    I'm really disappointed.....any suggestion?

My BV4-65, purchased november 2009 have had same kind of problem. The picture is a little bit dark and some details in movies are missed. Sometimes it suddenly appear brighter and what a marvellous picture it becomes. I am told they are working on it and the problem will be fixed in about a month.

Re: Dark picture on BV4 with SW 8.05

It seems that the dark picture issue is solved, i have to make some more tests tonight, but for now it looks great.

    Other new things are.

    * Sleep Timer(how it could take B&O 1 million years to implement that i dont know?) :)

    * Naming of Sources, e.g DTV2 = "MediaCenter"

    * "Game mode" under picture settings, don't know what it does.

    * New DVB-HD logo instead of that hideous clock screen

    today i update to 9.01!!(bs3+bv 4-50)

It seems the bug screen is solved!

I noticed another bug...when i use Picture In Picture between PS3 and tv(apple tv) only one picture is shown....maybe the panels can't handle both signals simultaneously(between ps3-tv or appletv-tv, it works flawless) ??

I turn off/on game mode, but i didn't notice anything different....what it does exactly??(BTW is quite uncomfortable to use....)

i'm afraid to say but....no, the 9.01sw doesn't solve the bug screen completely,i sometimes experience the dark picture.

i'm frustrated,i'm tired to bring my BS3 to the assistance for nothing...i'm not a beta tester.

    Sad

Re: Dark picture on BV4 with SW 8.05

That's to bad, under what circumstanses did you experience it ?

I have not had the issue since 9.01, can you solve the problem by running ACM or covering the lightsensor for aprox 10 seconds ?

Re: Dark picture on BV4 with SW 8.05

i have the old panel (D8) without ACM.Beovision 4-50 with bezel front...

i try to modify the contrast....but it doesn't solve anything(i have to set the contrast at the higher level to get the original picture )..Apparently i have to switch on/off tv several times to "fix" the problem....

mah...there aren't any B&O technician lurking in the forum that can say something official about this bug??

    thanks
