I know there is a thread for this but I have a loose wire too... not that I am barking mad.

About half my CD's wont play now and when I connect this loose connection to the obvious point (ie where it is pointing) then none of the CD's will play. So I am not sure whether it should be connected to anywhere.

This request has been posted for some time but I have been very busy but now have time to sort this out.

I know that it is due to some components drying up and that they are easily replaced with the right tools and skill.

I also have been given a couple of names... Keith Saunders and Dillen, whether this is right or wrong I don't know.

The flying resistor should connect to the twin-pad that also connects to the
nearby light brown'ish SMD component (and a black SMD too).

I suggest you replace the capacitors on that board. Note that at least one of the
caps need to be of a specific brand and type to work correctly.
A kit exists. Not a free repair as you ask for but probably the cheapest possible.

Don't adjust anything !

And...
WD40 contains acid in some form and is good for losening rusted bolts in cars.
It has no place in your livingroom - let alone inside your B&O stereo.
It evaporates - but not completely. That is, it does not remove any dust and dirt,
it merely shifts it about and only in rare cases won't it add to the mess.
I suggest you keep it in the garage.
The need for lubrication to any parts of the CD deck is practically zero.

A CD Restorer looks like a portable CD player only it takes a thin layer at a time to remove scraches.

The dry joints I refer to with WD40 are solder joints

I did not know there was a kit to puchase and I am in work now as a website designer so don't mind paying.

Where are the kits for sale?

You cannot repair cracked (or "dry") solder joints with WD40, you need to clean off the old solder
and make a new joint using a proper soldering iron, electronic tools etc.
These tools are also needed to replace the capacitors.
If you don't have these tools (or the skills needed), I suggest you leave it to someone who does.
The servo board is of a cheap production and quite sensitive, copper tracks are easily broken and
the board itself won't stand too much heat or wrong handling.

Seen these before, usually in shops which sell second hand games for consoles etc. For want of a better description in skims the top layer of the disc to remove scratches etc.

It's a fairly cheap kit but does require electronic skills and tools.
The fact that you don't mind paying is of course nice - but doesn't make the kit more expensive.

One day I will get round to actually doing something with my CD Player.

But to Start with I need to be told (again) how to get hold of your repair kit.
