    BeoLab 2000 Amber light?

    Hi,

I just got a BeoLab 2000 and it sounds like just the left side speakers are working, or at least they sound louder! I played CDs, Radio, TV etc via link. There is no out of sync sounds...

Also the standby light turns into an amber looking colour, is this normal, or am I confusing it for green? please help.

No, it's not normal. I've never seen an amber light on mine, sounds like a signal for fault.

Maybe I misunderstood you. When BL2000 is activated the left red lamp turns into green. It's not darkgreen so maybe it's the normal coulor. I know some speakers shows an amber light when there is something wrong, so why not BL 2000 as well.

The right lamp is only turned on (red) when [TIMER] is activated.

Amber light means you've got a problem in your ML cable/plug...

    Hi All,

Think it might sound more normal now after changing the ML port, but the colour is still not the bright green that im used to from the BV1 etc, is this normal?

    after changing the ML port

In that case, you might want to check visually the pins of your ML port. The plug is not easy accessible to pull out or to get in, when it is/was hanging on the wall. Chances are one pin is bended, and doesn't make contact with your plug anymore.

I check and they look ok on the BeoLab 2000.

Does anyone know if the Light is supposed to go amber if there is a problem with it, because I have read all the manuals, courtesy of beoworld and it doesn't mention anything about it going ambery...

Is the light supposed to be as green as the BeoVision 1?

I doesn't have a BV1, but I think the green light on my BV is greener compared to BL2000. Is on work now so can´t check until tonight.

There are two reasons for the ON/STANDBY LED to be illuminated
in "amber / orange / dark yellow":

1 - Unit is faulty - warning message - LED is OK

2 - Unit is working fine - but LED ITSELF is faulty

I did notice something else strange though.. my BV1 in the bedroom seems to sound louder on the left speaker than on the right when I play linked music, I havent tried hearing out for it whilst watching TV... The LED is bright green though.

The thing that they all have in common is a bosscom 8 port ML junction... could this cause trouble? Yesterday I tried 2 bosscom ML, what I noticed is that for the BV1 to work, I had to have all cables connected on one side of the plugs. There are 4 plugs on either side of the box.... if one plug is on the left and 3 on the right, the TV doesnt seem to be linked...

Could this all be signs of a dodgy ML box and not actually the speaker?

Have you gotten a second opinion on the colour? These bicolour LEDs can sometimes be a little hard to work out if you have a slight form of colour blindness you might not even know about. I know I have problems with them!

hehe. I know what you mean and trust me I was going paranoid! Compared to the BV1 it definitely doesn't look AS green as it...

Your Masterlink wiring seems to be faulty. The orange (orange/white) and red (red/white) in addition to the ground wires are for audio L-R. It`s a three wire balanced signal per channel. If a wire is not properly connected, this cannel will sound "thinner" and not as loud as the other channel. As you have the same problem on your Link TV, I think this is the reason. For the Stdby light (green - red) I assume you bought the BL2000 second life. Some people (like me) "darken" the small glass in front of the IR unit to reduce IR reception. I have done that to avoid the double command problem in the mainroom. Sometimes my BV7 and my BL2000 received the Beo4 commands. Now it works fine, but the green light seems to be darker than before. Maybe it`s the same with yours?

Thanks Stefan, Ill check the cables when I get home... but I got both cables from LifeStyle and from Sounds Heavenly...

Ill try and connect the BeoLab 2000 directly to the ouverture and see what happens.

Yes, you are correct, I got the BeoLab 2000 second hand... which is always a worry...

Home now (but still working, whatever happened to the economic crise?). They are pretty much the same colour: green, almost yellow.

Have you tried its function without connecting it to the ML system? In that way you can test if the unit is faulty or the ML cable/plug...

    Hi there,

I did, but it just stays RED, because anything you press, requires an ML Source... :'(

On a more positive note, I have finally implemented a mac mini/boxee solution and its AMAZING!!
