    BeoCom 5 sound problems

    hi ,

Has anyone had any sound quality  issues with the new BeoCom5 hands free speaker phones? I bought 2 (one speaker/handsfree and one handsfree)and i think the sound is appalling on both units. When I asked the dealer, he said that B&O were aware of the issue and  are working on a software solution at the moment and that it is an issue with a lot of the new BC5's.

Overall, im very disappointed in this product from B&O. Given their cost, and the speel on the B&O website, I was expecting great things - clarity, good volume......

""""With BeoCom5, we have created a cordless phone that captures every nuance of your conversation - delivering a sound so real, it’s the next best thing to being there. Based on the same acoustic competences we apply in our Bang & Olufsen loudspeakers, we designed a speaker phone that lets you truly listen"""""

I foolishly dumped out my old battered non-brand ones and replaced them with this set-up and now when I call anyone, the sound is fading in and out on the speaker/hands-free unit. Even if I lift the phone and use to my ear, the sound is pretty poor.

I would be interested in other peoples experiences.

    Re: BeoCom 5 sound problems

    Hello,

I heared of this problem on Beoworld and postponed my order for a Beocom 5.

My dealer called me yesterday and told me that the new phones with updated software will arrive next friday (I'm in France) and that the "official launch" of this phone is effective now.

I read somewhere in the forum that in some places (UK or US), A8 headphones were offered as an "apologize gift".

You should check with your dealer and ask for replacement/software update.

    Have a nice week-end,

    Yann.

    Paul,

I'm running the penultimate software version on my shop phones right now. There were 2-3 versions since the first release that we've been testing. There were issues other than the sound quality as well. The sound on the latest version is fantastic so you should be pleased when they load it on your phone.

Yay!  Fortunately we kept all of our old BeoComs... the BeoCom 5 has been sitting pretty as an aluminum and plastic ornament, and not much more.

Yes - my Beocom5 and speaker-base are sitting looking pretty and absolutely useless. I bought a Beoline2, having been assured in writing that my Mk1 Beocom 6000s would be compatible with it (which they aren't), so it is being swapped for a (rather ageing) Beoline PSTN... which costs almost as much as Beoline2!!! I look forward to keying in my phonebook for the THIRD time. My original 11-year old Beocom6000s continue to perform perfectly on their even more ancient pyramid base. All I wanted was a speakerphone!!!
