Will the BeoMedia 1 see any revisions? No. Will we continue to support it? Certainly.
The BeoMedia 1, like your BeoSound 3000, BeoSound 1, BeoVision MX 5500, etc. will be the same tomorrow as it is today. It is just as good a product today as it was when it was bought. It handles its tasks well and with a nice interface. It can hopefully be assumed that anyone who bought it liked it at the time and hopefully still does.
I'm certainly not arguing that it's unreasonable to expect updates on a software based product, but I know we've struggled (more so than many of us have been comfortable with) with the transition to the new era of AV. In other words, the BeoMedia 1 was designed not like an iPhone to be a tabula rasa for whatever ideas come down the pike, but like a traditional BeoSound audio system that performed a set of tasks in a certain way.
The BeoSound 5 is the first product that's come out to acknowledge the way modern electronics are built, i.e. platforms versus products. We are aware of many supplemental add-ons as well as software alterations in the coming year and beyond, so I feel fairly confident that we won't find ourselves in the same position with the new generation of products.
Anyone who truly feels they've outgrown the BeoMedia 1, though, should ask their dealer about a trade-in option. I am aware of some privately owned shops making this offer when approached.
There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin
