Well - i'm sure it's worse elsewhere, but after 20 years of living in Eastbourne i've never experienced snow like this! It reminds me of when i was a child back home in Bradford (the cold and snowy North of England)..
The Met Office has issued not a severe weather warning... but an EXTREME weather warning no less !!
Anyway - i just ran out of my lovely warm office into the snow wearing a short sleeved polo shirt, much to the neighbours bemusement, to take some photos.

This is what we had in Columbus Thursday night into Friday. It is still snowing a bit. Really pretty average or even a little below average for around here.
A good day to paint and finish restoring some of my old LP's I rescued

Looks pretty good to me Puncher - We get two or three like that every year. 2 years ago we had 20 inches one day March 7th as I recall.
Now tonight they are calling for wind gust up to 30 MPH and windchills around -10 F todays high temp was a balmy 21 F at midnight and it has been dropping since.
The way it works in the midwest first the snow - then the arctic air blast. We are scheduled to have lows at night around 2 or 3 F and highs around 20 F I think that works out to be about -11c to -5c.
Glad I have a modern insulated home and a fireplace.

Oh, us up North are taking this all in our stride - I posted the picture for the benefit of those Southern softies down in Eastbourne!

This begs the question. Do they even have snow shovels at the Hardware stores in Eastbourne?
.... and what about Calcium Chloride and Salt for the roads?
Sounds like a snow shoveling/company bar-b-que may be in order.

They have snow shovels.. but nobody can get to the hardware stores to buy them!
Honestly - this weather is unheard of here. That last time i saw more than an inch or so of snow was my second year down here in 1991.
The council have also abandoned gritting many roads as they don't have the stocks of grit and salt in reserve (again because they never expect this kind of weather) and the main roads have been cut back on gritting and salting by 25%.
I walked to work this morning and counted a total of four lamp posts that had claimed victims - the best one being a white Ford Focus that had hit one so perfectly square on it had snapped the 'Ford' badge in half right down the middle! A 'perfect V' formed right in the front of the car. Crash art? LOL
Personally, i'm loving this weather - but it's going to be a real thorn in my side if it carries into next week and further stops the vans from hitting the road..

Jandyt:
I went for a little walk by the River Ribble near my home on Tuesday.
OK, I give in - it's not that bad up here that we need to wear Miner's Hats while we're out and about!
