    DVD controller wiring

    Hi Beoworld members,

I need some help with a DVD controller type 4020 I just bought.

The cables from the adapter and the controller connected to the scart cable unfortenately has been snapped off.

Both cables have  4 wires, brown, yellow, green and blue.

Anybody here who has a schematic diagram or how to reconnect, and do I need special attention on the type of scart cable which I have to buy?

I have a technical background so if anyone can provide me the information it would be much appreciated.

Also, are there any limitations on the use of this type 4020 regarding to DVD players, because it has no SW version (NA).

Thank you very much and enjoy your Christmas holidays!

    Leslie

Tricky! There is not a service manual for this! I do have a DVD controller but without pulling it apart, not sure how I can help!

    Thanks Peter!

No service manual I couldn't find either. Silly question but do you have a beeper or a multi meter?

If not then don't bother.  Your help in first place is appreciated. Now, let's wait till some technical guys on this forum can help me.

I asked one already but he's not responding[:'(]

    Thanks a million!

But now the key question where nobody can give me the answer.

Here are some pictures, maybe this can help?

Just need to know which colors (4 pole mini din & power plug) are connected to the scart.

    Re: DVD controller wiring

on my DVD Controller model 4047 the wiring goes like this :

PSU Jack Wire Brown to Scart Pin 14

PSU Jack Wire Blue back to Blue wire on the DVD controller

DVD Controller Wire Brown to Scart Pin 14

DVD Controller Wire Yellow to Scart Pin 8

DVD Controller Wire Green back to Turqoise colour wire within the scart lead

I am pretty sure B&O would have wired up the 402x and the 404x models the same way, but good luck anyway :-)

    Re: DVD controller wiring

    Hi Peter,

So, wire turqoise color is directly connected to the green wire of the controller?

But the turquise colored wire should be connected at one point of the scart at the other (TV) end. Am I correct? Can you measure that for me if that's the case?

Thank you so much for your help so far.

    Re: DVD controller wiring

Thanks, but I don't have an original B&O scart cable.

You think that all scart cable have the same standardized color coding?

I'm getting a tiny wattage on scart pin 8 at the TV end Leslie

so green wire on the DVD controller to TV Scart pin 8 should work I hope

    Re: DVD controller wiring

my multimeter is very old and not very sensitive, and pin 8 was the only signal that blipped on the screen out of the possible 20 pins that I tested for you Leslie :-)

what DVD player are you thinking of getting, I bought two B&O  DVD 1's when they first came out in 2001, one for my Avant and another for the MX7000, sadly both of them kept failing during the first 12 months, so the dealer refunded my money and gave me a DVD controller as a goodwill gesture, I then went out and bought a Panasonic DVD-A360, really superb quality and better all round than the B&O ( which was really a re-badged Philips )

    Thanks Peter, you're very helpfull.

Not sure which type I want to buy. Have to make sure what type will work on "my" controller! The one you mentioned is not available here in the Netherlands!

Hope you enjoy your Old Years Eve. Lots of noise over here at the moment (fire crackers etc.) Thanks man...

    Re: DVD controller wiring

I don't think any of the DVD players are now available to buy new, you need to get a really good second user Panasonic if you can, ideally one that has been professionally serviced and is now up for sale - check your local Panasonic TV dealers first !
