    Stripping an Avant or BV32 for non-B&O Flatpanel usage

    Hello do-it-yourselfer,

    my actual DD 5.1 setup consists of BV3-32 with Beolab 5000 and CX100 (MCLP driven) as rears. The BV3-32 acts as center.

    I am playing with the thought to strip an Avant or BV3 in order to use it only as control box for B&O integration and to keep the 5.1 availibility.

    Here is a project in the forum dealing with combination of a 50" flatpanel and an Avant. So obviously there are possibilities.

    Who knows if such a stripped Beovision would be operatable without tube. I would put the sound coming out of the cable TV receiver into this Beovision rest and via HDMI/Scart I would feed the flatpanel. Of course I will loose the setting possibilities of the Beovision because there won't be any access to the menu.

    2nd issue is the center speaker. Maybe I could use a Beolab 7.1, which brings me to the problem connecting it to the Beovision internals.

    Just brainstorming....

    If anybody could spend its 50 cents...

    Thank you

    I'd use the speakers and amplifiers in the Avant if possible - remember the BV5 is really an Avant with a flat screen.

    @Peter

    Yes, I am aware. But my feeling is, that the video signal processing on acual LCD panels is much better than the Beosystem 2. I don't see any stumbling blocks, don't I?

    Agree with that - the video processing on the BV5 is the archaic bit really. I don't see why you couldn't feed the pre-amp out to the Avant power amplifiers though. Need a bit of working out the connections but you sound well up to this!
