New speaker between BeoLab 5 and BeoLab 9?

Will there be any new speaker that can fill the gap between BeoLab 5 and BeoLab 9 in near future?

I don't think the gap is big enough to merit another product being developed to fill it.

Who would need larger speakers then the Beolab 5?

The BeoLab 5 (as goes for any B&O product) will be replaced, but not anytime soon...

That's good news for Stephan! It would be a shame to wait 6 1/2 years for lab 5s and watch them become obsolete with the introduction of a new speaker.

    The Question was..

Will there be any new speaker that can fill the gap between BeoLab 5 and BeoLab 9 in near future?

No, simply because the gap isn't big enough - but there will be a new and improved top-of-the-line speaker with even better adaptive technology, but not anytime soon.

Even no updates/improvements for the existence line-up.

What does it mean not any time soon, how long do we have to wait? A year, or even longer?

It means that though the project is being worked on, there is not a sign off date yet so we cannot be more definite. On the updates, B&O have a policy of constant updates throughout the life of a product. The Beolab 5 has been updated a couple of times already but has not needed any large changes.

Thanks Roger.  This is great news.  I was hoping for wall brackets for the BL8K's.

Does anyone know what the upgrades to the BL5's were?  I was under the impression that nothing had changed since introduction.

Mainly software changes but some other changes related to the digital connections. Not at home at present but can itemise if needed. As with all B&O products, if a fault or possible fault is detected, a remedy will be attempted. Some are easy, others can take longer - the BV7 springs to mind!

Depends on the serial number of your speaker.

If you have an early model S/N 17772145 or below, S/W 1.62A. If you have one later than this but before 21221146, S/W 2.61A. Any model after that can take S/W 3.00A.

    That's nice :-)

I would not say that they become obsolete in my case, as they put a smile on my face every time I see them, even if they are not playing music at all.

A bigger speaker would only result in a much much more expensive invest as my living room is way too small, even for the 5's ...

In my opinion, the current B&O speaker setup is well positioned and there is no space to fill between Lab 5 and 9 except of the pricing as there is a massive 5k difference per speaker between the two models.
