    CDX lid

Just got done repairing the broken.left hand hinge as described on another thread.Worked out nicely. Now I have to push down on the upper left corner to get it to play.I this simply the external lid adjustment mentioned in the manual?Or do I need to take it back apart?

    Re: CDX lid

It will probably need a minor adjustment to sort out. The left hand mechanism also acts as the mechanical link to operate the "lid closed" microswitch and any minor differences on the hinge repair will affect this as the tolerances are pretty tight.

If you look underneath the left hand side of the CDX there is a piece of black tape covering a hole. This hole is the access point to the adjuster screw, you will need a HEX/allen key to turn this and I would suggest only turning it no more than revolution at a time until the lid operates correctly. I think you need to turn it clockwise but I'm not certain - it doesn't really matter in any case as it simply operates via a cam mechansim which will eventually go full circle and end up where you started. Be aware though that it will also adjust the lid in a forward/backwards direction so don't go mad!

Thanks,I tried the external adjustment, didn't do the trick.I guess I will take it back apart and see what's going on.I'm sure it's something simple.

Maybe you didn't get the hole 100% exactly placed.
The ones, I've received from Chris, were spot on, requiring no adjustment but I can easily
imagine that even the slightest offset would cause this fault.

    Re: CDX lid

I thought I had it accurate, but maybe not,but the good news is,I get to try again. It broke after one too many pushes!I used thin aluminum for the repair and it wasn't strong enough.I now have a piece of steel to use.I assume a limit switch was not  being made causing the light to stay on,and the unit not to play?

    Thanks

    Re: CDX lid

Yep, you definately need thin steel for this repair. And yep, it sounds like the limit switch at the end of the black plastic assembly isn't being made. You may need to check that this switch or part of the assembly hasn't got damaged during the repair - they aren't particularly robust. I have a replacement assembly with this switch intact if you need.
