Re: First pictures of BV 10

I too need to replace my Avant but really what terrible launch pictures. I will wait until it arrives at my dealer here in Germany and then take a better look. When I bought my BS9000 in March this year my dealer advised I should wait for the new sub. It seems that the new BV10 will need it. Having everything in white will be great... Hope white is being planned?

Still cant get over those first launch pics though....

Smile The BS 9000 white, BeoLab 9 white and the BV 10 in white, THAT would be a  great set

How much is lost in picturequality conpared to a TV with the BeoSystem 3 like the BV 7, will it be a great diference?

Do we have an answer if the BV 10 has projector out? A

Well, very pleasantly surprised (even after allowing for high expectations!).

Wondering whether this is a David Lewis design? If it is, I believe this answers some of his critics!

I quite like it, but its not love at first sight. Indeed I feel that the TV is too high on the floor stand (I prefer the BV5 or BV9 floor stands).

Also, I feel that the piece of glass between the screen and the speaker front is disturbing the proportions balance. In my view (as I attempt to show on pictures 2 and 3 hereunder):

    - either the speaker front should adjust neatly under the screen (à la BV5 and BV9, my preferred solution)

    - or the glass separation between the screen and the speaker front should be as thick as the surrounding (second best solution)

I just wonder what the designer justification would be for this piece of glass to be there and for the proportion thereof???

A little annoyed, but maybe I need to see it in the flesh.

    I agree with you 100%

The stand and the band just seem akward. So close, but yet so...

Oh, well, only the stand is motorised... not the wall bracket...

In terms of UK price I hear about £5400 (not sure about stand options though).

I'm wondering now how B&O will be able to justify maintaining such a high price for the BeoVision 4 for which one would have to spend an additional $4,000 USD for a center channel speaker.

Re: First pictures of BV 10

A few things spring to mind:

    A) It's a great looking telly. And I usually don't like big tellies  (uh, yes, a 40" is big to me).

    B) It seems the "speaker cover" is covering a lot more than the speakers.

    C) DKK 6500,- for an antireflective coating? Get out of here.

    D) They will have to fire the PR company who set up this POS unveiling. How amateurish can you get? I mean, it's the sort of thing I'd expect from, say, Sound Devices, simply because they make (audio) tools, not "life style" thingies.

If I didn't know better, and judging from that unveiling alone, I would take from it, that since they care so little themselves about this, perhaps it's not an important product, or even a good product.

looking at the video of the BV10 on the wall, and then the transcript of the briefing where the demonstrator opens and closes the BV10 ... my tiny little brain wandered off ... and I wonder how soon it will be before we see a James Bond movie where the BV10 hides the safe ... I guess I could place one over my empty wall safe ... empty because I had to sell the 10 gold bars to pay for the BV10 :)))

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Indeed. That PR company should be fired. My opinion is that any early photos leaked on this site would have been doing a service to B&O by drawing attention away from that shoddy unveiling.

Re: First pictures of BV 10 (updated)

Judging by the photos of BV 10's on floorstands, it seems that the screen's height may not be adjustable. Sad I sure hope that isn't the case - it makes the TV look slightly ungainly. Compare the images of the BV 10 with the BV 5 and BV 9:

Where the 5 and 9 float sleekly just above their bases, the 10 is perched awkwardly on top of a thin pole

I wouldn't be surprised if B&O allocated no real Budget to the launch. I don't think the launch itself makes such a big difference for them ... problem is, most US gadget blogs picked up on it and they loose that free marketing plus the posted prices (8700$) are most likely wrong. I understand it won't be showing up around here (USA) for a bit.

On the other hand, this makes the BV10 look more lightweight and I like that. The BV9 looks much more heavy, not only due to it's size but also due to its heavier fram and the low fitting of the stand. I think it's a quite good an idea to give these two tvs such different looks, since some customers like the heavy look and others might like the more lightweight look. I like the design a lot, I think it's the most well-balanced tv design from B&O in a long time, but I can also understand why others might prefer the more iconic look of the bv9.

Re: First pictures of BV 10 (updated)

I completely disagree in terms of the way the TV is perched on its pole. This was always my biggest problem with the BeoVision 9. With its bulging frame and protruding beak it just looked fat and ungainly. The BeoVision 5 got away with it a little more because it was so geometrically sound. The BeoVision 10, however, looks weightless and delicate from every angle and the way it floats off the stand just adds to the effect.

I think the BeoVision 10 has surpassed the BeoVision 7 as my favorite B&O tv.

That wall bracket is pretty insane though. I have to think that Gavin is kicking them so dough to keep the brackets stupid so he can drum up more business for his own brackets!

There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin

Re: First pictures of BV 10

Based on current exchange rates the US price would have to be $8988.00 if the £5400.00 and €6000.00 prices are correct.  Otherwise it would seem to generate much less profit for each set sold in the US for Bang & Olufsen DK.  I doubt that they would sell many here at that price.  Maybe the hope the exchange rate will change before the US launch in the spring?  What was the price Trip mentioned for the US?

I saw the early picture before it was pulled.

It did NO justice to what we have seen today.
