Avant and Beolab 9s set up tips?

    Hi all,

Currently trying out a set of Blab 9s with my Avant 32 DVD, has anyone any tips on setting up?

I have the Avant settings as subwoofer off and the front speakers set as Beolab8000s in the menu. My previous setup was a Beolab 2 with Beolab 3s as front speakers, but i haven't really noticed a huge difference in sound quality? ...or is it just my 2 bob ears!

    any tips/advice appreciated Hmm

    Ray

The Beolab 3 and Beolab 9 has the same tweeter system. I surpose there is not much difference in the high tones. The bass level in the Beolab 9 is nearly the same as Beolab 2. The only difference is, that you can play at higher levels with a clean sound. Each Beolab 9 has around 700 watt and there is not much power in the Beolab 3.

There is a lot of deep and powerfull bass in the Beolab 9.

You should try to set them as BL1s at least. I have a BV3 and that's the way did. You should get a less boomy bass compared to BL2 but much more precise, excellent for music and movies. Middle and high frequencies are also more defined. Did you set them already as corner, wall, etc?

Thanks for that, i will update the menu accordingly!

They are currently set to 'corner' as they are in the corners! i did try 'free' first but still experimenting Big Smile

I take it, in a 5.1 surround set up that with the subwoofer turned off in the menu, that the signal for the bass is sent to the front speakers?

    Thanks again

Agree completely - set up as Beolab 1s. The chassis of the Beolab 9 is based on the Beolab 1.

    Aaah... "Master & Commander" Smile

Some years ago I did some demo's with "Master & Commander".. BL5+BL7.2 in front; BL3's in back... The place was shaking heavily! Not long thereafter the same demo but the BL5's were replaced with BL9's... And that's a complete difference! The pushing sound of the cannonballs was gone... clearly demonstrating the awesome power of the BL5's when it comes to earthquake generating sounds..

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.
