    Straightening warped records

I have some records that are more or less warped. Tracking problems aside, now that I only have B&O turntables I can't really play them since all the decks seem to have very little clearance under the tone arm by design.

I used to try and do something about warped records when I was a wee kid and being mostly successful as well, but can't really remember the details... I think I put them flat in a very mild oven (+50°C?), then let them cool down flattened by some weight. Does this sound plausible, or does anybody else have other methods for straightening records?

Yes, tho heard you can go as high as 150F (65C?).  Keep it pressed till it cools.  Still hit or miss; depends upon the type of vinyl used.

Hi there! I've read somewhere you have to put the record in the oven, pressed between two clean glass plates. See http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/188522/how_to_fix_a_warped_record.html. Never tried it though ...

Failing that Mika, turn the oven up a bit. Then they make great plant pot holders.

    Poor me, never win owt!

I have tried a hair-dryer, sometimes with success sometimes dont. Is there really no way of adjusting the height of the tone-arm carriage on tangential B&O Beograms?

Well I guess most of them have a height adjustment - but then the pickup to record angle won't be correct anymore. I don't want my straight records to sound worse just so I can play an odd Rolling Stones compilation I've inherited Big Smile
