It can be but not the twin line facility. There is a new Beoline designed to get the most out of it - Beoline 2 - but it will work with slightly fewer features with both Beoline and Beoline PSTN.

    Beoline 2
what kind of line will you need to have 2 lines? Will the Beoline 2 work with standard phone lines? or will you need an ISDN line?

Introduction October 2009 I have heard in Holland from my dealer. Regards, Robert

    That's nice; pretty soon.

    What will it cost; beocom 6000 + 100,- = ?

    Thanks.

For me the best bit seems to be that it's cheaper than the BeoCom 2 and has the advantage of the loudspeaker, so I am definately interested :)

My dealer told me the Beocom 5 is not going to support ISDN. If that's true, it's a dealbreaker for me.

Is BeoLine 2 the newer, 'rounder' PSTN base (http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=1235) or a totally new product? If so, is Beoline 2 compatible with BeoCom 6000 Mk II (with earset connectivity)? Would be interesting as I plan to upgrade my older, rectangular PSTN base...

    Thanks, beoberlin

    Hi,

I think this picture is less blurry..However, I'm not sure I like the design, it looks a bit conventional & handset seems very "plasticky", however the features could make me replace my BeoCom 4..wait and see!

It is a new product - it can work with older handsets but this removes some of the functions. Equally the Beocom 5 will work with the older bases, but again some new features are lost. This seems sensible as it allows a bit more flexibility with phone types for domestic users but allows a fully featured office set up as well.

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

    Release date : early november

Price : around 600€ with base

At launch, no possibility to get the handset only (without base), but surely it will be possible soon enough

The speaker/mic of the base seems to be incredible : ability to have a decent conversation from one corner of the room with the speaker at the other end... Seems promising.

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

on the photo it does look very normal and not very B&O like ...

Actualy the Beocom 4 and the Beocom 6000 do look better.

The speakerphone functionality sounds like a PRO argument.

    Any more photos please? :)

From what I've seen so far I'm still not impressed. Can't say it looks bad either. The speaker/mic as described by mbee sounds very good though...

Don't forget it's the "back side", the phone has a reverse design ! Wink

Sure, but the photo shows the side that is "exposed" for all to see when it is in the base!

Compare all that "busy-ness" to the elegance of what you see sitting in the room with any single one of their other phones!

    On the other hand...

As the keyset is exposed to a user in a desktop setting... I would hope that you would be able to initate/respond to calls w/o having to remove the handset from the speakerphone base...

If so, this phone would be nice in the "home office" but anywhere else... just not sure!

Frankly, I was hoping for a 6000 Mk3 that added the speakerphone capability right in the handset, so... say as I walk to another location, I could set the phone down, hit speaker, and continue the conversation. In fact, I am surprised they did not take this route, as this is supposedly the last phone from B&o ever??? I can't believe they would have gone to all this trouble + development of a new beoline base (that is not even completely compatible w/ your legacy BC's?), when they simply could have added a "SPK" button to the 6000! Imagine if the $ and resources had been spent on... oh I don't know... the BS5 or the new BV7???

hmmm... How do you spell k-i-k-o-n-i-k-o?

    Hello

This release date. Is this the date when we can expect to find/buy the phone in the store? Or is it just the presentation day?

Saw the Beocom 5 in the flesh at our dealers open night on Wednesday, it is much nicer than I'd thought looking at the pictures. Beautifully made, and comfortable to hold.

Had a look at one a couple of days ago - quite light - the non display side is a bit featureless but I suppose that is fair. Nice display and the hands free speaker is good. Same price as a Beocom 2 (just a little less) but not as iconic. The problem is integrating it into a present system as you lose the 2 line facility.

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

what about backwards compatibility of the basestation?

Will it work with a current Bang & Olufsen Basestation or does it require a new one?

I'm asking because I planned to buy a Beocom 6000, too and I want them to use just one base (like any other modern phone).

Any more pictures? Build quality? Ringtones? :-)
Where is it made, in Denmark?
Will it control (Volume) TV and Soundsystem, too like the 6000 and 2 do?

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

Interestingly, I received the following pic in an email from B&o...

Same pic as the OP, but with the phone either shopped out, or a second pic taken without it...

I think it was shopped out after this thread started, making the OP a great spot!
