Isn't it the future BeoCom 5 in background of this BeoTime picture ?
Looks very cool...
Agree, looks good. I hope however there isn't a cable (or cables!!) tucked away behind it. Wireless please.
@steph: Well spotted!
@kokomo: You wish. Have you ever seen a cable in an official B&O image? I haven't...
Good point ralfja! It always amuses me when in publicity shots of setups there are no cables anywhere in sight. In my opinion, advertising rules should forbid photos which don't show equipment with the necessary connections. Failing that, the ad should carry words to the effect "The setup shown is for display purposes only and cables and connections will be required for operation."

Yes !
Well spotted Steph !
thanks.
Here you have another (blurred) picture:

Look like a normal boring phone, no?
And if I'm not mistaken.. then the round disk where the phone is docked to is in fact a speaker.. making it a small conference station. Without any wires... as the speaker is powered by the battery of the phone :-)
The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Have to agree Tim, it looks like a really old design of mobile phone stuck on top of a metal disc.
I really hope it's not a 'new' product from B&O. If it turns out to be so, then I really hope it looks better than the photo shows otherwise B&O have really lost their way.

Exactly!

Typical BeoWorld style.. Breaking down a new product based on a somewhat blurry picture :-)
Anyway... I'm having thoughts about bringing out a PSTN phone in an IP world. There was some talk about the BeoCom 5 being VoIP "compatible"... If it's without any kind of ATA... then it's a very interesting solution. But then again.. I have my mobile...
Design wise: I'll take one :-)
Karel Uyttendaele: Design wise: I'll take one :-)
Me too Karel !!!!
I LOVE this new design, and I'm already absolutely sure that it's even lot better in flesh.
I see there the future replacement for my (beloved) BC6000, for sure !
Regards.
Thanks for sharing Steph! Sadly can't say I like it that much. I better wait to see it in the flesh...
Beoworld's twenty-eighth ninth prize winner and fifty-first second prize winner. Best £30 I've ever spent!
I agree with Karel - wait and have a look at the real thing before passing judgement! I rather like it and though it is essentially a 'boring landline phone' , I need these and I like the hands free facility. I don't want a really far out phone - I like the Beocom 2 but the Beocom 6000 is far nicer to actually use. The 5 appears to have a bit more style and a few more features so I for one welcome it.
I happen to like it as well. reminds me the screen of a serene with the wheel of a serenata. The speaker funcion is great and design wise is nice. I hope is priced in the neighborhood of the BC6000.

I like it....after all there is only so much one can do with a normal phone design wise.

I think this is pretty neat:-

When will it be at the dealer?
The reversed design concept is appealing. look forward to see one , when are they out anyone knows ?

Mighty clever of them! They had to know it would be picked up on and get a buzz stirring.
It does look sexy in person, especially the surface of the speaker base which is highly reminiscent of the Audi speakers.
And, uh, yeah. There are wires!

double post, sorry
Doc: When will it be at the dealer?
Good spotted!
It looks promising to me. I can not wait to see this LIVE.
Alu unit with conference speaker. (optional?
Hand unit with soft touch housing, like the Serene.
Have heard the price is BeoCom 6000 + 100 Euro.

is very interesting ...
I hope it is compatible with a 6000 setup
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
