Hi ,

My parents have a Beogram 900/1000. its stopped turning and no one can seem to fix it???

Can any one help, ref parts, or any idea what it could be?

Hi = Can you see or hear the turntable motor running?  Are you able to lift the table and examine the drive belt condition?  If you need a new belt, Dillen (Martin) may be able to help.  Let us know.  = Brian (Northumberland)

hi, no the motor is not running at all, the belt is perfect, its the motor that just is not doing anything.

Hello again = The motor is powered by mains voltage ie 110 or 220v a.c., so unless you have technical ability and correct test equipment, you should not attempt repair with power on!  You could, however, remove the motor and get it tested - you may find a replacement through this Forum (perhaps Dillen could help?).  Can you hear a buzz in the speaker when you put a finger on the stylus?  If you are able to get the motor tested, by the way, there is a wiring diagram for it in the BG1000 Service Manual.  If the motor turns out to be ok, then the fault must be in the motor drive circuits/wiring. the feedback from the stlus is fine, its working perfect!!

I have removed the motor, it wasn';t that hard, but don't know where to send for repair etc, or to get a nwe one

This is a common problem as the grease and oil in the motor hardens with age and the motor seizes. The problem is that they are all like this! Every 1000 I have seen seems to start slowly and then gradually pick up speed as it warms up. The motor can be serviced but this is a specialist job. The choices are either get Martin (Dillen on site ) to help or get another 1000 to use as a donor - only the motor need be working so this should be cheap. Bear in mind that it will probably need servicing itself for the above reasons but it will probably be better than one which would appear completely seized.
