As far as I know, your dealer can unlock the region code. But you loose every right of guarantee.

You have to contact with your local dealer. This is chargeable operation - you should not loose the guarantee.

Also, I was informed by my B&O technician that there is a limit of 5 region changes. After that it locks permanently. There is no region-free or region 0 option.

    Not true.

    I had a BC2 and it was re-coded to Region 0.

I think officially this is not supported even though some dealers may workaround. The modified Beo4 comes to mind. I think the issue is more that some dealers may not know how.

The BC2 can be set to Region 0 and play all DVD regions by your dealer. This is regardless of version II or III. Usually your dealer will charge a minimum fee for this opertion. In Denmark it is about USD 200.

You will not loose your guarantee by this operation.

I am not aware if  you can do this yourself using the Beo4 or Beo5 but I doubt it is possible.

    Hope above is helpfull.

In Holland, the dealer can rent this modified Beo4 from the headoffice. 20 seconds work. It's about 40 euros.

It would be great if someone with this modified Beo4 used a Lintronic device to decipher the codes that are sent. Then we could all easily do this with a Beo5.

    Hi everyone,

my BC2 is absolutely code-free, plays everything "in sight".

It was purchased in Denmark from an authorized B&O dealer in 2004 and I explicitly asked him to make it code-free before shipping it to me which he did although I remember him telling me that it was difficult because there wasn't much "room".

But it IS possible...........I think you need to add a chip.

There are two methods - one is to add a chip - this may well invalidate your warranty but is quite often done by dealers. The second way is to use the special BEO4 mentioned which transmits a special code. I have not seen one of these in action! Sounds like a safer option!
