    SP10 Cartridge in 1203 Beogram

I had thought that I bought my 1203 Beogram turntable in 1971 but find on the main site that they were only manufactured from 1974(!)

It still has the original cartridge which I removed for inspection today and was suprised to find that it is an SP10. References on the mainsite suggest that the standard cartridge for this turntable would have been the SP14, and there are references elsewhere on the forum to the SP12. So my questions are:

Was the SP10 the correct cartridge in my original purchase (or had the dealer possibly switched cartridges???)

If I need to replace the SP10 at some point (seems OK at present) do I have to go for an SP10 rebuild or is there a better replacement?

Re: SP10 Cartridge in 1203 Beogram

The Beogram 1202 and Beogram 1203 was delivered with SP 14A as standard from Bang & Olufsen. The customer was also offered an upgrade at the time of purchasing the Beogram 1203. This upgrade was suggested in the Bang & Olufsen catalog and SP10 and SP 12 was suggested (reference B&O catalog of 1974 and 1976.

Product release - The Beogram 1202 was in the catalog of 1974 - hte Beogram 1203 was in the catalog of 1976, but could have been released in 1975.

This is what I can find in the Danish Catalogs.

Thanks Frede. My memory is obviously way-out on purchase dates!

So it looks as if I was given an upgrade on the standard SP14A! Is the SP10 superior to the SP12?

    The 'ranking' for me is:

    SP12 - Naced elliptical diamond

    SP10 - Naked Spherical diamond

    SP14 - Spherical diamond

The ranking also reflects the price tags Smile
