BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
Is this the case with everyone who has this software?
Yesterday, for the second time an engineer came over to upgrade the software! I am pulling my hair out with all this!
It's starting to feel like a really old car, everytime I switch it on and it works, I am so thankful, but this is supposed to be a great tv!?

What white flashes are you referring to?
Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s
Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s
Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000
Beotime, Beotalk, Beocoms

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
No, I can categorically state there are no flashes here with the 5.08a update (nor since the v4.xx update, last November!). I watch a lot of Blu-ray movies, use the PS3 in 1080p mode etc and all the flashes are gone (and they were all related to 1080p mode).
However.....are you sure the flashing has been done correctly! I've had two instances where either the sw has been downgraded by mistake or only part of the sw has taken. That's quite common - some modules updated, others not updated, leaving it partly sw upgraded.

well the bottom of the tv, has one white line that comes and goes.
This happens on both Spiderman and the last batman... software is:
AP SW05.08a
IOP SW23.00a

That's the same sw as mine, but I don't get those flashes (and I only watched Dark Knight the other day) any more. They plagued me for ages though, I must admit!

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
It's not anything outside of your TV as many of us found on here, it's related to 1080p mode (only Blu-ray or PS3 applicable) and was 'fixed' in a sw 4.xx update, quite a while back. You need to get your dealer to expedite this as it must be a software problem.

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
My TV is at 5.08 with no problems either. You need to try and identify the problem. First change the cable then see if you can borrow either another PS3 or a Blueray player. You need to confirm all other instances before you are sure that the tv is at fault. Sorry this is not an answer but fault finding is key in these type of errors.

Hi Timhanna
Can you enter in the Customer Service Menu pressing Red+Red+Go and look if there are any SW line in red colour? If the update was incorrectly, you will see some red lines.

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
I've got to be honest - I'm panicking a bit that sw updates will be needed after I receive the BV7-40 MKIV to solve HD audio issues. I can see it now...
I guess the old Batman may not show white flashes as either it's a standard definition DVD (I'm assuming it's Blu-ray though) and/or the format of the picture differs size-wise from the more recent movie? No other ideas :(

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
Yep, exactly what I thought - sw hasn't taken properly which means it's probably reverted back to factory defaults? It happens. With me, an engineer updated the software on two occasions, went to leave, I asked him to double-check and found the sw hadn't 'taken'. He had to re-upload!

Versions are correct, but if they are in red, something is wrong. Your BV will need a new update. The correct way to do it, is updating first manually the H8 module, and then, update the other ones automatically.
Good luck!

BTW, engineers should always check the sw has 'taken' before they leave. Perhaps you should try and bill your dealer for your wasted time? :)

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
I just called the Service centre and got abused over the phone...
Regardless, I then called my dealer and he said that it seemed to be ok, they have the same SW module readings in red with the same versions as me and these are two independant places, i.e. one in the UK and one in France!

Tim, we can't offer you any more advice. You just need to be more tough with both your dealer and B&O. Don't accept 'no' or 'it works' as answer and sort it out with them. We can't make it work remotely. Only your dealer can do that for you.

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
Thanks moxxey.
Im going to a B&O shop that has a PS3 that we could put these blu rays into to see what's happening.
Then I'll connect it to another of their TVs and see if the same problem persists.

Re: BV7-40MK3 + Software 5.08a = BluRay WHITE FLASHES AGAIN!
I had to reinstall the update twice as well on my BS3 (Although my store and service people are great!) They will probably have to do it manually. For me we ended up doing incremental updates from one update to the next making sure it took correctly before proceeding to the next.
