Essentially they are the same in the respect that the mounting bracket at the top is the same size.  However, there are two types i have come across in my time - one with a cut-out to mount the BeoLab 7.1 support plate into, and one with a plain pole and no cut-out.

Always totally unplug the TV before plugging in the motor stand by the way - you can cause damage to the TV if you plug it in with the TV powered up.

Thats correct.  The cut out you need to mount the 7.1/7.4 bracket into is rectangular with two screw holes and is positioned roughly half way up the stand. It sometimes has a black plastic trimplate that slots into it for when it's being used with the BV6/BC6.

OK, was hoping to be able to use the old stand on the new TV, but then I have to buy a new stand....

Only a thought, but you could try ordering the pole section with the cutout and simply swapping it for the plain section... it could be a spare part that can be ordered from your local service center or dealer?
