Beovision 1 for link room, advise please
Hi All,
Just thought about the BV1 tvs as a solution for my bedroom. It would be nice waking up to some nice music in the morning, if I linked them to my ouverture/BV7, could I program it to start playing the Radio or CD from the link? Would the wireless 1 connection work with this TV?
I know its 4:3, but coming from a BV7-40, would it look strange and unpleasing? I love the Avant (16:9), but its unfortunately too big for my bedroom.
Please advise

BV1 is an excellent TV. Awesome sound for that size and the picture quality is very good. There are some other posts on this forum regarding the qualities of BV1.
Assume you will get the timer working from the link master.
Wireless 1 should work, but that solution is expensive and less reliable than a ML cable.

Thanks Hiort!
I was searching for BeoVision 1 instead of BV1. Like you said there are loads more results!
Are the BV1's reliable?

The Beolink Wireless would only transmit the sound and data (i.e. replace the Masterlink cable), but would not transmit the picture, so you'd still need the aerial cable.
That said many people have been very desatisfied by their Beolink wireless.
Do you plan to access video sources from the BV7?

Wouldn't it be better to connect a media centre to the main TV and let it distribute it to link TVs...

One last thing, with A.AUX work over the link?
In order to watch the BV7 DVD, will i need a masterlink, RF cable and beolink video connected to the BV1?

Re: Beovision 1 for link room, advise please
Beolink video is only to convert TV with MCL connection to a ML network.
Beovision 1, if they have a Beolink connection, should have a ML, so no Beolink video.
Do you have a Masterlink plug on your Beovision 1?
And which A.AUX are you talking about?

Hi Phil,
Thanks for your continued help in this.
The BV1 (havent got it yet) will have a ML connection on the back of it. Does this mean then all i need is a ML cable and a normal TV antena cable (RF coaxial) to get video to work?
Will this mean that the PS3 wont work via the beolink or does the BV7 modulates it to RF?
Update: A.AUX from the Ouverture.

Hi Tim,
I have a bv1 in my bedroom linked to my avant dvd and overture and am absolutely astounded how good a tv this is! They are also massive bargains at the moment.
I would hardwire the set to your master as the cost of the wireless units outweighs the price of a cables
Hope that helps
Nick

Thanks for the reply nickyg63!
Does the 4:3 bother you? can you use the A.AUX on your ouverture over the link?

All sources of the Ouverture, including A.AUX will be available from the BV1.
For the PS3, I am no expert, but the modulator of the BV7 may not be able to send HD signals into normal definition signals.
It should work if you connect the PS3 to the TV's DVI or HDMI and through the Scart at the same time.

Re: Beovision 1 for link room, advise please
But a DVD on the BV7 would sent to the BV1 no problems right? In addition, have you used any media centre on the bv1? the apple tv wont apprently work without a modulator.

DVD, DVB tuner, HDR1/2, SAT work without problem.
The problem only comes from HD source, like the Apple TV.
You need to connect them at the same time to the HD input AND to a SD input (scart).

Re: Beovision 1 for link room, advise please
Great. Did you use a seperate media centre for the BV1 Phil, or did you link it to the main tv?
My SAT box shows SD signals, but ive connected it with an HDMI cable, will i still need to connect the scart cable as well or does the tv only care that the signal is SD?

Re: Beovision 1 for link room, advise please
I do not have a BV1 but a MX7000 (even older) and I can get all the sources from my BV7. I do not have a local source on the MX. I do not have a Media center.
For your SAT box, connect the HDMI and the SCART at the same time if you want the BV7 to transit the signal to the BV1.
Basically the BV7 can only transmit sources connected to the SCART or the SD inputs, not the HDMI, DVI or Analog HD.
(I feel like I am repeating myself).
If you have a media center, try and make it work on the BV7, so you can enjoy it on 2 TVs.

Hi Phil,
Thanks again. Don't worry I got it ;D
Just need to do some "research" into what 4:3 looks like after being used to 16:9 and might go for one.
Everyone's help in this has been really useful and helpful for me! Thanks again.

One more thing, the BV7 does not pass the Aerial signal through (the link out socket only send the link signal, but not the signal coming from the aerial). So you'll need an amplifier from B&O that is able to split and re-merge the signal... and somewhere to hide it!

The set deals with 4:3 brilliantly as it shows 16:9 in the top 2/3rds of the screen so it doesn't look strange at all!
A Aux works fine I believe I haven't tried it myself, I take it your connecting an ipod or similar.
Cheers Nick
