STC not controlling Mac Mini but dut does control Sky+

    HI Guys,

posted in the BeoMac forum but thought I would post here as well because i think this is a STC issue & not a Mac problem.

Here is the original thread http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/25579.aspx

Here are the cut & pasted posts below.

    Hi Guys,

Hope you can help, updated the STC in my Beosystem 2 to enable control of the Mac Mini, the Mac is set to (stb)V.Aux & set to apple remote but it does not work, it's not even flashing at all but the Sky+ can be controlled as normal.

    Any Ideas.

    Regards Simon

Managed to get it work but only if I removed the DTV STB from the connections list which is connected to the camcorder input, then it worked but if I put the DTV back in the SKY+ works but not the Apple.

Here is a list of the connections used

    VMEM-DVD (sony)

    AV-DVD2 Wii

DECODER-STB-VAUX (Mac Mini) set to apple remote

    CAMCORDER-STB-DTV (SKY+) set to sky+

Really not sure why this is happening but very frustrating hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue.

    Regards Simon

    Simon,

I think your issue relates to the fact that you are using the Camcorder input.

I will need to check if it is true for the Beosystem 2, but on most B&O TV's if you use the Camcorder input it normally automatically sets that input as "to be used" if something is plugged into it and a signal is detected and at the same time it disables other inputs which appears to be your problem statement.

    Hi Keith,

I ran the set up through the PCG & this is what came out.

I am trying to keep the naming & assigning simple for the kids etc, it seems that there are some caveats regarding connections & what go's where, is there a list for the available inputs & whats remaining after you have assigned a device etc.

    Hope this makes senseConfused

    Simon,

The PCG is correct in the information it is giving you.

However, I can confirm that the Beosystem 2 camcorder input works in the same way as almost all other Beovisions in that if a source is plugged into the camcorder input it automatically switches to that input and therefore disables the others.

Looking at the circuit it is clear that if an voltage appears on the input greater than 0.7 volt, then that will be enough to enable the camcorder input.

    Keith,

Would a AV expander get round the problem? or is it not suitable.

I will see if I can get a reading regarding the 0.7v issue etc.

Re: STC not controlling Mac Mini but dut does control Sky+

    Keith,

I have tried some different connection options, basically I have completely removed the input to the camcorder & reassigned the inputs so now it connected as follows.

    V-tape-DVD

    AV-STB (DTV) Sky+

    Decoder-STB (V.AUX) Apple Remote

But it still does not work, I do not have anything physically connected to the camcorder inputs at all, I have also checked the voltage of the Wii that was connected when I first tried this config & they were 0.65Volts so below the figure you said, but as I said I also tried this with no connection at all & it still does not work. Very strange.

Hopefully you may be able to shed some more light on this issue.

    Regards Simon

    Simon,

Let me be clear, in this new configuration you get exactly the same problem ? When V.AUX is pressed as a source the apple does NOT work ? is that correct ?

I have a feeling that I am missing a key piece of data from your "Problem Statement"

    Simon,

given that the Beosystem2 has only one IR-Output: how did you connect both IR-transmitters?
Did you use the original B&O Y-adaptor part number 7229212?

    Keith,

The only other thing that I can think of is that the Sky+ is connected by S-Video & not by scart, therefore does not have Pin 8 connection, does this make a difference? The reason for this is that the Sky+ is connected to the Avant by scart because this is where the box is positioned & the S-Video connection feeds the Beosystem 2 in the playroom.

    Gerd,

No I do not have the Y splitter, I have a compatible double emitter cableWink

Not sure but I think your "compatible double emitter cable" will not work!

The IR-output socket has 3 pins where only pin 1 is common to both IR-transmitters.
By using an ordinary adaptor you will probably short-circuit one of the outputs.

The original adaptor has a chrome- and a gold-coloured socket for a primary (STB-SAT)
and a secondary (STB-V.AUX) set top box.

Check chapter "Connect a set-top box or decoder" of your reference manual.
