I'm not sure if your Pioneer receiver has pre-out sockets (RCA/phono/Cinch) on the back, if so you can easily connect Beolab 8000 speakers with standard RCA cables.  Just set the speakers to "Line" mode using the switch in the hinged connection panel near the base.

If your receiver only has speaker outputs, then you will need Attenuated Cables to reduce the signals down to line level so that the speakers can accept them.  Normal cables must not be used in this case, as the speakers will be damaged!

It seems to me that you have powered speaker-outputs and therefore you'll need the attentuated cables Steve mentioned earlier for the BL8000's.

when I look at the specifications for the pioneer i noticed that it had a subwoofer

pre out you can use  this to connect your bl800 i presume the preout is rca plugs

set your bl8000 to line on the switch on the back and try with low volume to see

if it works

i dont know for sure but many amp's has a combinated pre out sub woofer

it does have a pre-amp subwoofer out on the rear panel, so what steps do I take for getting the right sound to come out of the Beolab8000's. I would think the sound will be low and little control.

I'm sure an alternative approach can be made, please assist.

thats carries a variable signal out and can be used directly on bl 8000 in line position

or you could use the attenuated leads both Steve and I mentioned below - they attenuate a normal speaker out level signal down to line level for use with active speakers!

They do make life easier - I use them to connect Beolab 6000 speakers directly to the powered outputs of a 1977 Beomaster 1900.  Sounds great and saves paying $$$ extra for an audio system with pre-out sockets!

Sorry for all this back and throw, the cables that are shown how would you connect to the Pioneer VSX50.  The connections for the speakers are not like this, do I have to modify them?

I was looking at an Onkyo TX-SR507, now this has a L/R line out, this should work with the BL8000's yes/no?

Only if lhe line out is variable that means variable volume but if its normal line out

its a fixed one and cannot be used try to find out if is are eqiupped with pre amp

I have a Pioneer LX81 (european version of the SC-07) receiver and I want to connect a pair of Beolab 8000 to the LINE OUTPUT (ZONE 2 OR 3) at the Pioneer back pannel, but the question is: HOW CAN I CONTROL THE VOLUME OF THE BL 8000 ?

I am asking a similar question elsewhere on this forum.  If you plug into the RCA jacks on the BL8000 do you bypass the B&O built-in amp?  And how would this then work if I have my BL2 connected via Powerlink to the BL8000?

Yes - then how do you control the volume?  Or would you need a pre-amp?

Maybe the easy question that we can all relate to is plugging in an iPod - standard 3.5mm stereo output, variable volume/line-out (controlled with the iPod itself). 

I am not familiar with the Receiver however if it has variable pre-amp outputs and you connect via RCA with the switch set to LINE IN then the amp controls the volume.

@Michael - you are confusing too many issues IMHO - the sub is driven directly from a pre-amp with 5.1 outputs as are all the other speakers, the the amp in your setup determines volume.
