    VX7000 cap questions for powersupply

    I got a defect VX7000 which showed 88:88.

There is still a tape stuck in the machine. I was told that it just stopped working while it was playing.

I went to the powersupply and the 4 main big caps were all defect, leaking and so on.

    1 3300uf 25v

    1 2200uf 50v

1 1500uf 35v which  I undestand is rare but I got a back of Nichicons the other day which are the same 105 degree type.

    1 2200uf  25v which was placed next to the 1500uf 35v.

I got a problem here as to what the Die Bogener says about what caps to use.

There is the 1500uf 35v and 2200uf v25 as the original ones in the powersupply as I found out.

In the workshop for VX7000 it's 2 of the rare 1500uf 35v instead.

As I'm about to install 4 new caps could somebody correct what actual caps is the right type to use?

Have a look to the workshop, there you can see a picture of the power supply.

My trouble is that you are giving me another type of cap to be put next to C858 than the one I took off and looks to be the original one.

    C858 has a 2200uf V25 mounted.

    C853 has a 1500uf V35 mounted.

What it says in the workshop is that C853 and C858 must both use the 1500uf V35.

It's not a problem as I got 25 of them but the value is different to the C858 2200uf v25 which I got.

Could it be that the cap C858 in my VX7000 has the wrong type installed from new or maybe an earlier cap change?

The manual says, that C858 is a 2200uF 25V type, shown in the circuit and in the partlist. This is for a VX7000 type 4580 or 4582.

The shown type 4583 has 2 x 1500uF mounted in the powersupply, also all other (german) VX7000 i have (~ 60), there are always 2 of them installed. Maybe you have a VX7000 of the very first series or a preseries model or there were differences to other countries.

Hmmm, i think, use a 2200uF type for C858, it should work also.

Thank you for clearing it up.

I got 2 VX7000. Both models are 4581 and bought used here in Denmark.

I'm still waiting for the 2200uf v25 to arrive but using a 1500uf v35 in C858 would work as well?

Denmark has also 240V, right? If yes, then there should be no problem. As mentioned before, all of my VX7000 have the same power supply and always two of them installed.

    Voltage is 240V yes.

Anyway I got to clean the board first after those messy caps.

The 2 10uf v16 does look fine though.

The only 10uf v16 I can find are 85 degrees. Is that ok? Should I replace these 10uf 16v now or can I install the other 4 to see if it will work? It looks like the 4 big ones are the culprits in this case.

Replace also the small 10uF types. They are filters in the voltage regulators. If they would fail, the output could be wavy or fail. Replace them, there are only 2 of them.

The brown stuff on the caps is not electrolyte. It's glue, used to secure the large components and their solders from vibration.
Very common to see, especially in items of japanese origin, and can be hard to shift.

So I got some paint thinner and removed the glue + black acid from the 3300uf v25.

    I'm still waiting for those 2200uf so I installed 2 of the 1500uf v35 instead in C858 and C853.

After putting in the powersupply I put 240 voltage to it and nothing happend at all. No lights or noise and so forth.

The 1,6A fuse is blown. As I only have a 200 ma aviable which is to small I tried to see if it would blow or work. It did not blow and no further reaction.

The other fuse looks ok. I will replace both.

Were is that fuse on the lower mainboard placed? Alot of caps to change I see but apart from a bit of dust eveything looks ok.

I hope you will list a part list soon.

I will get the 10uf 16v but should they be 105 degrees?

Thank you very much for the update.

I have unsoldred QF1601 but I have trouble locating QF901 between the blue and white sockets.

QF901 is a bit more to the right of the blue socket.

So is it still QF901 that's the second fuse or the QF902 between the blue and white sockets? Yes I could use the manual.

Anyway what do I need to check the voltage? My second VX is a projekt that I want to get going and its my first atempt of doing electronic work such as this.

Please reply to this thread when its updated!

Where do I buy the QF1601 replacement?

    Thank you.

Ok the other ISPN fuse says N 5 D.

What is the correct replacement for it?

What instrument do I need for measuring the voltage?

Where do I get the replacement fuses?
