Hi, I'm currently looking at purchasing a used or new BV4. The question I have is which size is best for my room. This would be my first panel TV. The distance between me when sat on the sofa and the front of the panel would be around the 8ft mark. Would you go for a 42 or a 50 BV4? Some advice from BV4 owners would be most helpfull. Cheers.

Re: Beovision 4.Which size?
The 42" is not in the market anymore in Europe, used you can find it sometimes. They are selling a few in the US but would think that ends soon as well when the panels are upgraded to full HD.
That said, I would think 42" is suffficient, personally though I prefer bigger screens for movies. So big that I have a projector.

Re: Beovision 4.Which size?
8ft?! Wow you may want to move the couch back a bit if your considering a screen any larger than 32". Larger screens are for larger rooms.

Re: Beovision 4.Which size?
We have a 32"Avant in our main room which is the hub of our B&O equipment. The plasma screen will be for a second lounge for the kids. This room measures 11ft across but the viewing distance is around 10ft not 8ft as previously mentioned. The TV has to be wall mounted hence a plasma or LCD. We already have a 22" BV6 in the kitchen which would be to small for the kids lounge. We also have BV 1's in the bedrooms but they look to dated now to have downstairs. This only leaves me with the option of a used 42" BV4 or a new 50" BV4 which I think would be way to big. Do you think the 42" would be ok?

Re: Beovision 4.Which size?
in general, you should count 10" of screen per 3 ft of viewing distance. This would even make a 32" screen quite big for your room. I think the 40" BV7 would be a good solution if you absolutely want a big screen. Don't go for a 50" screen, viewing with to little distance will cause headakes and you won't enjoy the picture quality as if the distance was bigger.

Re: Beovision 4.Which size?
Thanks for the input gents. I think the 32" BV7 would be ideal, although the DVD is a waste on it for me because this TV would be connected to my Avant DVD. I wish B&O would make a BV6 in a larger size. Thanks, David.

dwrights: Is the BV8 available now?
no, the BV8 is not yet available in 32", but I am sure that it will be within the next 6 months, as it has been announced in the financial report
