Re: Off topic:>What to choose - New wooded floor, light or dark?

    Hi guys

Just a small teaser Stick out tongue I have made 3 rings of stainless steel two in each corner 100mm and one 150mm in the middle behind the BV5 Smile

The floor is wallnut, a really nice colour I think.

The ceiling is finish, the end result is really good, I'm very pleased with the bended ceiling but it was really hard work.

I can't wait to pick up the B&O stuff and put it back in the room.

the 150mm stainless steel for all the cables to the BV5 in the middle of the room.

The Beo4 is only for the size difference.

I only have the lids in stainless steel, but I quickly made one in wood just to see how it would look like, so now I need to make one in the lathe to make a better fit, because it looks better in wood.

    Thanks mate.

Yeah sometimes I feel like, am I only spamming the forum with pictures that takes up to much space, but I hope not! I hope that others like the idea about the cable solution, I'm very happy that I can hide the cables now and made the 230v mains for the BV5 and the BL5 very close to items. This have taken alot of time and of course the new ceiling, thats why I haven't posted much in this topic.

I have just discovered the thread now... I an think it looks really nice.

Regarding the holes, you should make a sort of moon crescent shape aluminium thing, so that you can close the hole even when there are some cable going through it.

I will make a hole in the middle or make a small gap from the edge and into the middle of the lids

Guys I'm sorry to ask for your opinion again. Embarrassed

The next thing is the two wooden pillars, and the steel bars.

What colour shoul I paint them, high glossy black or high glossy white?

    or even a 3.rd solution?

    Thanks

    Regards Anders

Re: Off topic:>What to choose - New wooded floor, light or dark?

No problem Anders, let me know later.

Regards the pillars. I would go for a satin finish in white. Satin doesn't show imperfections in the material to be painted as much as gloss. They will also blend in nicely with the rest of the decor and not become a focal point. Unless of course you want them to be such,

The steel bars will be great in black as a contrast.

       Jonnie

BTW did you try and find anything online before you decided to fabricate your own covers?

The pillars will get some work done before paint to ensure the finish would be okay to paint them as gloss.

I haven't desided yet, should they blend in, or should they be like"look at me"

Regarding the steel rings, yes I found one company in Denmark, but the rings are 12cm deep and it's not only a steel ring/frame but a whole box with main connectors and I think they are use when you have a more massive or thicker floor, so I desided to find my own solution.

Glossy black? Would help to break all the white.

Looks amazing, stunning space and what a way to compliment it.

I put a new floor recently

Missed the opportunity of placing wiring underneath - Thought of redoing the whole thing though after seeing this thread !

There is that 2cm gap I left all round the floor which I haven't skirted yet - Was wondering whether I could conceal wiring there. (would the expanding movement of floor the squash/damage wiring in long term?)
