Re: What is this cable used for?

There were two cables included, so it has to be something with speakers?

Plug it in the "AUX", and hook up any other equipment using regular RCA cables which are usually male-male. Therefore easier to get this adapter as a female version.

The separate wire is for grounding between units. Could be a converter for a Beogram record player equipped with DIN out, to enable you to connect it to an amp or stand-alone RIAA record player preamp.

Looked for similar cables at Flashbacksales, check at the bottom: http://www.flashbacksales.co.uk/acatalog/headphone-amp-5-Pin-din-phono-rca-Cables.html

I think Soundproof is closest, but has it backwards.  This cable allows you to conect a non-B&O (or non-DIN B&O) turntable to a BeoCenter/Master/Sound with an RIAA-Phono input.  Those turntables use a male RCA cable and usually require a seperate ground point.

Yes, but let's not confuse him, the cable will also work fine with an iPod, TV or any other source, just leave the ground cable unused.

Re: What is this cable used for?

    Hi Andreas,

Not intending to be confusing, just precise.  Geeked  There is a different cable intended for use with 'line-level' devices such as you describe, but it's grounding/earthing characteristics are different.  Depending on whom you ask, the two are in fact not interchangable.

Was thinking about that, with the female plugs! Think you're right, from something with RCA to a B&O unit, connecting with the DIN.

I would suggest it is for attaching a record player. Not much use for the 9300 as it does not have an RIAA unless it was for attaching an external RIAA to the 9300 after a record player was attached to the RIAA. Especially if the RIAA had captive RCA plugs.

Re: What is this cable used for?

    Hi everyone,

Sorry to arrive at this post so late in the day!  To summarise, this type of cable is intended to add a non-B&O turntable (specifically those such as Rega Planar 3 with captive RCA leads) to an earlier type Beomaster or BeoCenter that has a built-in RIAA pre-amplifier.  However, as mentioned previously, it can also be used to connect other line level sources with captive or intermediate RCA cables (eg. TV/DVD/iPod dock, etc.) into most B&O audio systems using the Aux or Tape inputs.

I get very few requests for this configuration of cable (ie. Female RCA to 5 pin DIN), as most requests for leads of this type are for Male RCA to 5 pin DIN cables.  However they can be useful in the circumstances described above.

    Hope this helps! Cool

    Steve.
