Beolab 2500 5V Relay for Computer Use

I own a pair of 1991 Beolab 2500 speakers that I would like to use as computer speakers. Unlike the Beolab 4000/8000 speakers which have a RCA line-in, I am using a 7 pin Din to RCA adapter to transfer the audio signal. The problem that I face is I need a 5V relay to signal on the speakers. I have read about doing this for using an aftermarket subwoofer and a computer setup using the USB port as a 5V trigger to turn on the speakers.

I am asking the form if anybody has done something similar to this and can help guide me through the process. I would like to know if it would be best that I use an external relay to trigger the 5V if it will draw too much energy from my usb port.

    Thanks

It is mysterious why this post did not get a response. This is why I did not become a gold member when I signed up.

G'day welcome to this fantastic forum! I have to admit, i feel that comment was quite unfair and OTT.

That aside, i just read your post today, and am happy to be able to give you SOME info! Smile This is not a common soloution at all, and my guess is that the people online at the time did not include the rare amount of people that have had experience with this product tweak.
