BeoSound 5 & BeoMaster 5 more questions, need answers

    First question:

Why there are two units: BeoSound 5 controler and BeoMaster 5? BeoMaster 5 could fall away as it is only a 500 GB storage device. Instead of BeoMaster 5, the control unit could directly be connected to the PC, as today we have PCs with 1 tera or more of disc space. This way a lot of cables would fall away and also the whole system could be cheaper. It would also be more simple to add mp3 files/radio stations to BeoPlayer on PC and play them via the control unti, so no riping from PC to BeoMaster would be needed. This could also be done with jpeg files and web sites.

Do you think some PC programme with a special BeoPort could be arranged by some hobby electrotechnician to make the BeoMaster unnecessary as it is a big and ugly black box?

    Second question:

Why there are so many cables from the BeoSound 5 control unit to the BeoMaster (power, USB and video cable)? This makes it almost impossible to store BeoMaster 5 far away in some other room together with the PC. Or are there 10 or more meter triple-cables available. But there must definitively be three cables from BeoSound 5 control unit to the BeoMaster 5 box,  if I understand the user guide correctly.

    Third question:

How are the Net.Radio stations added to the BeoMaster 5. Are the radio sides defined in BeoPlayer? I guess only free radio stations can be listened to.

    Fourth question:

BeoSound 5 supports playback of WMA lossless files. Can this be assured also if MP3 music is uploaded from the internet? I guess bits go missing with this compressed MP3 music. So only CD files riped to WMA format contain this bits. Am I right?

    Fifth question:

Can BeoMaster 5 be operated via Beo4/5 and content be displayed on the TV with no need of BeoSound 5? Can BeoMaster 5 be stored in BeoVision 9 housing no matter of BeoVision 9 version?

    Sixth question:

Can it play Dj mixes and classics without the short pause between the songs that some MP3s do (earlier Ipods)

    Hi,

I posted a similar thread on B&Os website,  named "why BeoSound 5?", the questions are almost the same, maybe slightly more provocative Surprise

Clearly I don't understand why BeoSound 5 was called like that, they could have named it Master Control Panel 5, as this is all that it does (with lots of cables)..

    Reunion Island is greeting you!

So what happens if I have Beomaster 5 connected to the TV and Beosound 5 as well? How does it know if I want to use TV versus Beosound 5 when pushing NetMusic on the remote?

I am somehow guessing that one "looses" the TV option when you add BS5 to the BM5.

JK, my understand was that BM5 was set as, say, "PC", on your TV's connections. You therefore press PC on your remote which brings up the beomedia interface on your tv. You then can navigate and use GO to access your source be it NMUSIC or whatever. Although i'd presume the NMUSIC and NRADIO commands work for both BM5 and BS5. Someone will clarify this no doubt.

If I have read the manual for Beoplayer right it depends on how you set it up and if they are in the same room. n.radio and n.music will appear on the BS5 and Photo and web can be accessed via the TV.

Re: BeoSound 5 & BeoMaster 5 more questions, need answers

Robert is right. BM5 is set up as PC to your TV (videomaster). If you press PC, your Beovision will turn on, and you have four sources: N.MUSIC - N.RADIO - PHOTO - WEB.

If you navigate the cursor to N.MUSIC and press GO, the BS5 will turn in addition to the TV.

If you press N.MUSIC your TV will stay off, BS5 will come up and starts playing the same track you listened to the last time you had N.MUSIC activated.

BTW one improvement for me is, that BM5 turns to SPEAKER 2 mode when you activate N.MUSIC or N.RADIO in PC mode.
