    Link problems

Hi, posted a thread some days ago but got few answers. I really need help with my problem so I try to start a new one and maybe my luck will change :

I have a problem with my linksystem and hope that someone can help me. Posted a thread some months ago regarding almost the same problem and then got the advice to buy the RF-amplifier which I now have installed.

My system contains of a BV 7-40 MKIII, a BV 7-32 and a BV 6-26. The BV 7-40 is the master in the system and I have set V. OPT 2 on the BV 7-40. The BV 7-32 is set to V. OPT 6 and from the 7-32 I can control both my Dreambox (SAT) and for example a DVD that is placed in the 7-40.

Today I connected the 6-26 to the system and I get the picture if i press for example DVD, but I am NOT able to control anything, not SAT or DVD. I think I have tried all options; V. OPT in 5 and 6, L. OPT in 6, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can try ? I am almost certain that the link connection is OK since I controlled the 7-32 through my old MX4002 earlier. Is there any way to make sure that the Master Link is OK at the 6-26 ?

    Best regards

    Hans

    Re: Link problems

Your settings are OK, so it is the set-up that has a problem.

You need to do more tests... for example Make the BV7-32 the Master (Option 2) and the BV7-40 a link (Option 6) see if you can control the DVD.

Put the BV6 in the same room as the BV7-40 and connect them with a short ML cable and test again. You would press LINK DVD to control the BV6 only.

    Re: Link problems

Hi Phil, thanks for your answer. I thought my settings would be OK. I rather would not move my TVs but as you mention it is probably the only way to find out what´s wrong. Just some more questions :

    - Do I need to set L. OPT in any mode just to be sure ?
    - Do I need to press LINK DVD on the 7-32 as well ?
    - Do you mean that I should set the 7-40 as master when I connect the BV 6-26 to it ?

    Many thanks.

    Regards

    halid:

    - Do I need to set L. OPT in any mode just to be sure ?

I do not think so. L.OPT is only used for Link only speakers.

    halid:

    - Do I need to press LINK DVD on the 7-32 as well ?

If you have a Master and a Link TV in the same room, pressing LINK insure that only the link TV picks the signal.

I suggest you put the BV6 in the same room as the master, just because it is the easiest way to make a simple direct connection.

LINK is also used to get a distant source from a Link room, when the same source is present locally. For example, pressing DVD in front of the BV7-32 will activate its DVD, pressing Link DVD will activate the BV7-40 DVD.

    halid:

    - Do you mean that I should set the 7-40 as master when I connect the BV 6-26 to it ?

It is the case already I think... Option 2 means Master.

Here is the output of the PCG. Some indication might be wrong as I do not know the exact version of your products.

Setting of option in the Link room

    BeoVision:

      OPTION 6, with Beo4

             Press:                          | Display:

            --------------------------------------------

STANDBY + LIST at the same time | OPTION?

             GO                              | V.OPT

             6                               | Observe confirmation

                                             | from the BeoVision

    Note!

The audio master in the main room cannot distribute PC sources, e.g.

N.MUSIC and N.RADIO to the Master Link system.

The PC sources are therefore only local sources in this Link room

If a mains power supply failure or switch off occurs,

the BeoVision may loose its option 6.

An introduction of a Master Link junction box in the Master Link system

    can prevent this.

It is possible to connect a PC to BeoVision with good results, but some requirements

must be fulfilled: The PC must have a DVI-D or DVI-I connector. It will not be

possible to connect a PC via VGA connectors.

Important: It is very important that the computer and the BeoVision is turned off

while connecting the two products. If not there is a big risk that the display

adapter module (graphic card) in the PC will be damaged.

    BeoVision supports 3 formats:

     480 x 640

     800 x 600

    1280 x 720 (recommended)

If your craphic card does not supports 1280 x 720 we recommend use of

    PowerStrip (http://www.entechtaiwan.net/ps.htm).

PC on Beo 4 must be activated to get PC picture on BeoVision.

BeoVision with PC picture: N.Music operated on PC direct = sound and picture

    on BeoVision.

N.Music operated on BEO 4. BeoVision will act as audio monitor (no picture), as this

functionality is the same as if BV 6 were placed in any other room.

Also please note that settings such as brilliance, contrast etc. must be done

in the PC and not on the BeoVision itself.

Operation: Simply choose "PC" in the Beo4 list and press "Go". If "PC" is not

present in the "List" you have to add it.

********************* REMOTE CONTROL FOR LINK ROOM ********************

The recommended remote control is Beo4

    Setup for Beo4 remote controle:

to operate the products from the Link Room.

    Re: Link problems

Now everything is working ! A friend of my borrowed a B&O test instrument from our dealer and there was two cables on my ML that was not 100%. I have checked all my connections before but havent been able to locate the problem.

The instrument was really nice and everything now works perfect.

    Thanks everybody !
