    BV7-40 price drop??

First I would like to say, that because I am very busy at the moment writing my thesis, I have been quiet for some time. I will not be following up on this, except if it is really needed, but I will be reading every second or third day. I am looking much forward to be back in hopefully a few weeks time.

Second, and most importantly I just saw an add for BeoVision 7-40 without speaker selling for only 42.495 kr. or 5.700 €. This seem to be a price drop of 18.000 kr. or 2.400 €. I am stunned, and I have asked my dealer if this is because it come without DVD or something like that. Do anyone know??

Third, it seems as B&O are focusing on the price with and without speaker, which I think is a good strategy. It emphasizes that almost 1/3 of the price is the speaker, which is in fact an optional extra - especially if you already have speakers. Then you can always add a center channel later on.

    Warm but very busy regards,
    Christian

That's interesting. The image does somewhat suggest a BV7-40 without DVD player. Can anyone read Danish and translate? :)

I’m pretty sure this one is without DVD. It is described as a BV 7-40 monitor.
And the offer is only available for Danish customers

The BeoVision 7-40 will be available without a DVD player, just like the BeoVision 7-32. You won't be able to add a DVD or BluRay player later if you opt for no DVD player to start with.

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

It's ggod to get a lower price without the internal DVD. With a PS3 you can use that as a DVD/BD player. But in the same time, the DVD is (for me at least) an important part of the BV7. It gives that special B&O feeling (the Wow! factor).

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

I think I might consider the BV7-40 MKIV without a DVD player. Although I prefer the integration, with a £1300 price decrease, I'll simply use the PS3 for playing back DVDs. Yes, would love the integration, but for the few times I play a DVD (once every three weeks?) I can live without an internal DVD player.

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

Yes, they have decided to cut the price with a motorsaw. The expected retail price for the 7-40 Monitor was approx 63.000 NOK, but they have decided to sell it for approx 42.000 NOK incl Beo4. This is quite a lot less than the stand alone BeoSystem 3 box...

The 7-40 Monitor will replace the DVD version as the only model being sold as from next month. The "monitor" version can not be "upgraded" with the internal DVD/BluRay-drive later on - but the current 7-40 mkIII DVD can, as you know, be upgraded with BluRay. The BluRay version (7-40 BluRay) is expected to ship in May.

The big question is: How will they price the 8-40 now?

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

    Hello All,

Still a lot of speculation if this Danish campaign is truely a BV 7-40 Monitor only (no DVD). Can anyone confirm that the mentioned price is really for a BV7-40 without DVD adn Speaker priced to 42.495 kr. or 5.700 €?

It's also refered to price in Danish and just recently in Norweigan Kronor "63.000 NOK, but they have decided to sell it for approx 42.000 NOK incl Beo4"  Is there a similar campaign ready for Sweden? This would almost mean all Nordic (any Finland) is ready for this and then the question is which other region that might next inturn

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

When I heard about this "promotion" I immediately started to wonder what the need would be for a BeoVision 8-40?

Now we've heard about a BeoVision 8-40 and I think that it has been anticipated both for its potentially low price-point as well as its potential to add in some of the flexibility that has been missing from the BeoVision 8-26 & 32.

But now that we see a bit of de-engineering on the BeoVision 7 I wonder if I were in the market for a more modestly priced 40" LCD if I wouldn't rather have a BeoVision 7 on the wall than a BeoVision 8? So what if the BeoSystem 3 were to come back out (as an option of course!) leaving a stereo output and more connectivity than the BeoVision 8 chassis? If they have to engineer a new basic 40" chassis anyway, why not develop a cheaper form factor for the BeoVision 7 as opposed to a more expensive form factor for the BeoVision 8?

I suppose the built-in sound is the only issue, but throw in a pair of BeoLab 4s and you've got (depending on spacing) about the same sound as the BeoVision 8 if not a little better.

There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

I have just talked to my local B&O pusher, the offer is on a BV 7-40 without DVD.
And the price on BV 8-32 will drop, when the BV 8-40 arrives in the shops.

Bear in mind the cost of essentially opening up new production lines for the aluminium parts/body parts which only fit the DVD-only version. Most people will still go for the DVD/BR-inc. version (I suspect, it's one of the BeoVision 7's strongest selling points).

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

As I have indicated before, dropping the DVD option for both the 32 and 40 inch models effectively allows B&O to drop the BV/BC6 range cutting inventories and production capacity without drastically changing the range.
It is of course more expensive for the basics but would be seen as "added value" given the move from 26" to 32" and a better loudspeaker if the BL7.1 option were to be chosen.
The BV8 would stand as-is as a different and lower budget model throughout.

    Re: BV7-40 price drop??

The price for the 7-32 Monitor is already set and it has been around for a few months now. B&O will switch from DVD to BluRay across the range, but not for the BeoCenter 2 - the BluRay-drive doesn't seem to fit within the existing body (expect a BC3...).
