Except for Denmark, the prices are still not made public (unless you count BeoWorld ) yet. So I do not know what B&O UK will decide upon. Regarding Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD: Simply buy a 3rd party BluRay player that can decode these formats and provide them as multi-channel PCM via HDMI to the BeoSystem 3 (I belive the new Sony S350 cannot, but the S550 can decode DTS-HD 'onboard' - same goes for the PlayStation 3). I think it will work it's self out in the next couple of months. I dont think the UK economy is as bad as the Pound would suggest (in context to the global crunch). No. I'm sure those tw.ts in red braces are kicking the currency from one end of the field to the other (and back again) to make a buck at our expense. . However, think about it....if B&O instruct their second largest market to increase prices by 30%, they just killed every B&O dealership in the UK. I'm sure that wont happen. Likewise they cant do the opposite in the Eurozone and cut prices and margins for dealers. . However, if all the Euro purveyors of B&O start buying in the UK, then it will be surely a systemic of swing in trade in all areas of business across the Eurozone to the UK. A currency rebalance must occur. . Therefore to all you Euro Beophiles out there, come, buy your B&O from us in the UK. You'll be getting it cheap(er), you'll be helping the UK plc and B&O at the same time. Win-win (unless youre a Euro B&O dealer that is). Still as Meat-Loaf once said...2 outta 3 aint bad! . This offer wont last forever...so get it while stocks last!!!!! . . 10%

Roger: The price for the 7-32 Monitor is already set and it has been around for a few months now. B&O will switch from DVD to BluRay across the range, but not for the BeoCenter 2 - the BluRay-drive doesn't seem to fit within the existing body (expect a BC3...). Roger
Across the range? You mean even the 7-32?

mbee: visually I find it outdated with the big screen borders and its fat design comparing to all the slim TVs around there...
Funny you should mention this. It has advantages and disadvantages. Often people remark on how 'big' my BV7-40 MKIII is, assuming it's a 46" or similar, when they are around my place. They are quite amazed to hear it's only a 40" TV. It does give the illusion of a bigger screen with the black borders. However, the downside is that it adds about 25cm of width to the screen and makes what should be a relatively average sized (40") living room TV dominate an average sized room. Add BL9s or other B&O speakers and it's wider than a 2-seater couch.

moxxey: BTW, did anyone else receive that questionnaire from B&O asking what we think of our BV7? They're starting to ask some odd questions - comparing the TV experience with brands such as Gucci, Samsung and so on.
Oh dear Only a short step from taking styling advice from Coleen!

LOL! Yes I also received the email and have just this minute finished the survey and posted a short response back. I must admit I did find the questions funny too. I didn't know whether to feel nervous that nobody knows which direction they are going at the factory, or whether they know exactly what they are doing and have a hidden agenda. If that's the case, then what is it?!!! I trust B&O. I am sure they know what they are doing. Wish them all the best as always. Simon.

I would trust the Engineers (more so in years gone by), I would trust the Designer(s). Am I happy the Marketeers know what they're about...........

In todays webcast the CEO had on the slide more detail of the "modularised" BV 7: Monitor, add DVD/B, Speaker but also had 100Hz Any clue on in which order and when these will be out? How long have the Retailer known that this is coming, I presume the have "campaign" mails from B&O sent out regurlary? Cheers

B&O told us themselves - in February 2008 - that they were going to update the BV7-40 with a Blu-ray drive, a new panel and 100Hz! They said it would be ready 'in about a year'. We've been discussing this, on and off, for months. It's no secret. Dealers knew of these specs ages ago. The latest news is around May/June this year.

If you look at current prices for LCD TVs I'm sure B&O should sell the Beovision 7-40 WITH DVD-player AND a pair of Beolab 4000 for a 6000 Euro pricetag.
This would dramaticaly increase the number of sold units :-)

Alex: Why the BeoLab 4000? This would actually cost quite a bit as it would require another mounting option (which wouldn't be free) and considerable extra installation time.
The arguements about price/specification have been had, many times on these pages -- B&O wil sell what they can offer at a price that fits with their grand plan. The number of takers will decide the outcome.

Quite a good example I thought!

I agree Alex. Who thought that through? B&O should sell the BV7 with a mono centre speaker (7.4) and then simply enable customers to purchase speakers to compliment their TV. If they purchase with the TV, they ought to give them an incentive. But why on earth would anyone want a BV7 with 4000s? BL4000s are 'bookshelf' speakers, wouldn't compliment either the 7.4 or 7.4 and are easily bettered by the BL3s, which you can buy second hand for around £1400.

I think they would try to convince a first-time purchaser to get a couple of BL4's with the TV (..and I bet a few dealers give them away if it clinches a deal). This could be followed by either an audio system and/or a better pair of loudspeakers. Utlimately, the purchaser starts to buy into the B&O A/V system, pushing the 4's to the rear, adding a centre etc...etc.. . As the gear ages, it gets pushed further to the dealer in P/X of a better system or to the study or bedroom and the customer now becomes fully subscribed. . The problem I see that they have is that a full BV7 "system" is a big chunk of money to fork-out and to buy in to the B&O dream. I would not be suprised to see dealers selling a BV7-40 without DVD, a pair of BL4's and an STB BV7 bracket for £5,000-5,500 in this climate. It's still expensive but it is giving new customers a chance and re-opening the door for future repeat customers. . B&O needs to modularise it's flagship products like the BV7 to enable the customer to buy-in to the dream at a rate that he/she is comfortable with. Producing too many "cheaper" product lines will in my opinion debase the brand and not do it too many favours in the long run. Let people aspire for the top products but give then a ladder to help them get there. (and its not a Vituoso Card!) . . 10%

I disagree. I don't think a pair of BL4's would offer an excellent audio experience without a centre speaker. Also, the BV7 doesn't look right without the 7.4 or 7.2. A while back I had my BV7-32 with just the BL6000s connected (7.1 was back for repair) and the sound was terrible. Just didn't sound right - poor version of the 7.2. I doubt many dealers would try and sell a BV7 without a 'centre' speaker.
