Does anyone know how to correct a BEO4 remote (after an accident!) from reading VMEM when almost any buttons are pressed.  I have cleaned (carefully!) the rubber buttons and also wiped the board.  The dome foil buttons appear to be sealed so I do not believe that any moisture is causing a problem there.

I have a workshop manual for the Beolink 1000 but only a user guide for the BEO4.  Is there a BEO4 User Manual?

Any thoughts welcomed.

Have workshop manuals stopped being produced (re request for BEO4 manual)  since most items are now replace board or throw away rather than repair???

Been digging around - remote manuals sometimes are included in other product service sheets. However nothing doing. I think you may be right.

Have you tried removing the metal spring holding the dome foil and cleaning the contacts underneath?

A user guide is supplied with each Beo4. If a user manual is different to the user guide then I haven't seen one.

A service manual for the Beo4 does exist and I have one!

I am willing to send it to Peter for scanning for the site, please don't dismantle it.

I have in fact repaired said BEO4 - a new dome foil (as suggested by Andy T) did the trick.  I will try cleaning the old foil and see if it can be resurrected.

The MCP5500/6500 is handled in the service manual for Beomaster 6500 (I don't know if there's a more thorough manual for it separately ).

I have looked at the BM 6500 manual at the download site,  but sadly it appears to be missing the final few pages.

There is a breakdown of the parts in an MCP but nothing more.

Well, the schematic is on page 2-6, PCB pictures on 2-7,  display survey and IC pinouts on 2-8, and finally the mechanical breakout and parts list on 4-3. Page 4-4 is already handling the system stand. I don't think anything is missing - it's just already going to the later route and the "official" service is not supposed to do much on component level, just replace modules... this usually happens when the bulk of the circuit is surface mount, like in the MCP. An adventurous engineer can still repair them, but it may not be cost effective any more at the hourly rates an official service is supposed to charge.

I see there's a test point jumper designated as  "display on". It might do the job some people have asked for, namely keep the display on at all times and drain the batteries really fast 

Thank you for that - I had skimmed the pages and was looking for sections 7, 8 and 9 that the contents on page suggest should cover "repair hints" "Insulation test" and "final test".

I took another look, and on page 5-1 there are two adjustments for the MCP - the power supply voltage and the volume control pulse amplitude. I'm afraid that's all there is to be found...
