    Simple question....

    Hi,

I have just been given a 9500, and am trying to figure out how to connect speakers to it.

I have the manual, but all it says about is how to use the system, not how to set it up.

The model I have says it was made in 1986 if that makes a difference.

I already have some good speakers I was planning on using, I can't figure out how to hook them up.

    Can anyone help?

    thanks

    Kevin

    Re: Simple question....

Congratulations on your new system! I have the exact same, and it is great!

To connect ordinary passive speakers to it you need a special connector/cable called speakerlink described in the beginning of this page: http://beoworld.org/beotech/wiring2.htm

Disregard the data and shield part, you wont need these.

This is what the connector that goes into the beocenter looks like: 2 PIN DIN PLUG

You will need one of those connectors for each speaker you want to connect.

    Briliant, many thanks.

I'll see if I can lay my hands on some this weekend.

    Re: Simple question....

Just one other thing Kevin - the positive side of the speaker cable connects to the round pole - negative to the flat spade.

    Ah, thats good to know.

One last question, my 9500 is displaying code, when I turn it on.

I found this page http://www.beoworld.org/faq_view.asp?id=76, and have tried to do this, but it won't work I assume I need to replace the battery, but where is it.

thanks for all the help so far

    regards

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Yes, just change the backup battery and reset the unit, as described in the Beoworld article you mentioned.  That should clear the problem.  If not, just post back and I will try to help.

The 2 pin DIN speaker cables are still freely available in a variety of lengths.  B&O also sell the 4 pin Speakerlink cables for speakers with displays, but you may find these quite a pricey option!

    Best regards,

    Steve.
