What remote do I need for a B&O LX5500?
I have an LX5500 TV and the remote has broken. I want to get another one but I'm unsure whether I should try and find the original remote or whether one of the newer B&O remotes will work with it. Any advice on which is the best route to take?

You should buy an original BeoLink 1000. Either used or new.

Re: What remote do I need for a B&O LX5500?
Any remote except Beo1 will work. The original is Beolink 1000, but I now use a Beo4 with no problem. You can also use Beolink 5000, a two way remote (LX 5500 has two way ir control). Beolink 7000 will also work, but it would be overkill unless you don't also have a two way BeoCenter. I believe they all except 7000 is still available as new from B&O.

Dont buy a Beo4. If ever you have to program some of the stations its a lot more difficult to do it with a Beo4. A task that only takes seconds with BeoLink 1000.

I use a Beolink 1000 mk 3 with mine. I guess its the original one as it came with the Beovision. Mine was DOA so I went by the B&O shop and had a new printboard installed. It still works great to this day. I would sugest to either fix the one you got or find a direct replacement.

I know, but since the death of analogue TV this is not a problem anylonger.

Be glad about that! Here in FIN the analogue transmissions have ended and now we have to use digital receivers. Extra remote, and extra trouble for the user. Tv's own remote is almost useless, just use it to switch the tv on and off, perhaps volume. You have to fiddle with two remotes, both having control over some functions. On our summerhouse even a slight wind causes "NO SIGNAL" and before that the picture jamms, sound skips - it's SO annoying and frustrating. Then a lot of aerial adjusting and you might have one or two channels working... even if you move in the room it may stop working! The receivers are having low revisions of software and they can just stop working and you have to unplug it to make it work again. Translations of menus are poor, both receivers and remotes are made cheap and feel crap.... list goes on. When working the picture is good - as long as you don't mind the compression, it can be seen in most material. I miss so much the analogue days...

Really, will Denmark continue 10 years with analogue TV? Sweden has closed it because the frequencies are needed for cellphones. Lausvi, if you have a B&O-TV you can always get a solution fron oneremote.dk or Lintronic.

That's interesting that Denmark would keep analogue that long. In FIN I don't remember hearing the frequencies would be used for cellphones, I think it was told that free frequencies are needed to have more digital channels available. Daniel. I do have a Beovision now (refer to the "Beovision MX 3000 - found from a trash!"-topic. :) I know I could use programmable remotes etc. but my idea was in general level. I remember seeing a Beovisions that have a Topfield receiver mounted vertically on the tv's back! I recon they will get the remote signal thrue the set and from the Beolink? That was on my local B&O shop some year or two ago. I have a vintage 80's Salora videorecorder with a huge remote controller that can receive other remote's signal and save it to a certain button and then use it there. Somewhy the idea of learning remotes is not used nowadays. (Sorry to go slightly off-topic). For a Beovision LX5500 I would, too, recommend a Beolink 1000. :)

Do not forget analogue cable-tv, it is still very popular and over 50 % of the Swedish households are connected to a cable network. These networks also carry digital signals (DVB-C), but the majority of the households don't use it and many do as I do - I use DVB-C in the livingroom, and analogue in my bedroom.

Here in Finland we have no analogue transmissions left in the cable, either. Personally I haven't had an RF cable connected to my tv since 2004 or so - the analogue picture quality was always awful in this building...
