    Beolit 500

    I have obtained a Beolit 500 which having been on the Website is one of the 1965-1969 ones. It takes the weirdest of batteries but i have managed to get one from "The Small Battery Company" but for the princley sum of £9.65! . It also needs 6 D types as well. It is in awesome condition and comes in a special carry case with the Royal Crown on it and the original instruction booklet and warranty. I am expecting it to work beautifully and will know later this week when the B122 battery arrives; assuming it does work is it sort after and of any value?

    Re: Beolit 500

    It's a somewhat peculiar machine with radio and intercom in one.
    A design piece actually, though the true beauty of the design can be discussed.

    Hard to say if they are actually sought after, I never saw anyone looking to buy one but they are fairly rare, at least good condition ones and tend to go for reasonable amounts, even if non-working. The PVC carrying case instructions etc. only adds to the value.

    I have quite a few Beolits, though as Martin points out, the 500 is an unusual member of the Beolit family being as it is a combined radio and intercom. Having never seen one for sale, it's hard to say, though I am sure there is some curiosity value attached to it. I guess the answer to the question is that it's worth what someone would be prepared to pay for it! If that's not helpful, I can tell you what I paid for some of the other Beolit models over the past year:

    1960s Beolit 600 - around £80ish for a nice set;

    1970s Beolit 600 - around £120ish for a nice set depending on the colour of the trim panels;

    Beolit 800 - around £100, though that particular set was a bargain in my opinion.

    Based on the above it might be fair to assume you might expect between £50-100???

    The Beolit 500

    This is a very rare product. If your Beolit 500 have all the 'printing' on the five push bottoms - it is very unusual.

    A mint condition Beolit 500 price level in Denmark is £200 or more.

    Technical the product is a bit unstable ? Perhaps the tuning is a problem.

    I like the Beolit 500 really, a rosewood version is very beautifull.
