    Re: STB-list

    k984942:

Thanks for the information on the latest STB table for an Avant.

The thing is, I can't seem to see Virgin V+ on this list, yet my dealer is in the process of ordering me the chip as he claims V+ is on the list!

Can anyone clarify this please? If he's wrong I still have time to cancel the order.

Also, as I'm not familiar with all the devices in the list, can anyone suggest which are DVD players?

Thanks for your help as always

Does no one know that answer to this guys?

You help would really be appreciated

    Re: STB-list

OK, I have now fitted that latest Western Europe chip (4.01 I think) and as Keith said, it does NOT control the V+ box!

I am now pretty much resided to the fact that I won't be able to do much about this (short of buying a new B&O TV). I am now looking for a normal SD DVD player that is controllable using the STB.

I've had a look through the list STB list but do not recognise a single STB as being a DVD player! They all appear to be freeview boxes or Hard Drive recorders.

Keith (or anyone else), can you suggest a DVD player that is fully compatible with my the 4.01 STB-C?

    Re: STB-list

As you have already noted, there is not much available in terms of DVD players controlled by the STB-C

However, you may wish to consider a B&O DVD controller which will control the following DVD players:-

    Onkyo DV-S525
    Panasonic DMR-E50
    Panasonic DMR-E53/DMR-E55
    Panasonic DVD-A360
    Panasonic DMR-EH54D
    Philips DVD950
    Philips DVDR70/DVDR75
    Philips DVDR80
    Philips VR200
    Philips HDRW720
    Pioneer DVDR-3100
    Pioneer DVR-530H/DVR-630H
    Sony RDR-GX3/RDR-GX7
    Sony RDR-HX1010
    Sony RDR-GX210

    Regards Keith....

A playstation 3 is on the 4.01 list.

    Re: STB-list

Is that the only one Beobuddy?

Its just that since I went to the effort of fitting a new STB-C chip I'd like to use it for something!

I don't need freeview or any type of DVR. It won't work with the V+ box. Would love it if I could use it with a normal DVD player rather than shelling out for a PS3 which is a bit over the top since I don't play games and I won't see any benefit with BluRay on an Avant.

    Re: STB-list

Yes, it's unfortunate the only one on the list.

As Keith already mentioned, the PUC controller is able to control several DVD players. But that is not an easiest/cheapest option.

Ok, the ps3 costs more than a second hand DVD controller and a separate DVD player. But it handles DVD's fine and has the advantage of streaming videocontents via the pc, internet or mediadevice.

I have a ps3 also connected to a avant RF DVD. And it works fine. I've bought a beamer which is connected through hdmi if I want the real thing. It makes it easier not to buy a plasma for having a bigger screen..
