Change voltage of beogram 5000 from 110 to 240

Is there a simple way to change the voltage of my beogram 5000 (picked up cheap on ebay) to 240v or am I best just to use an external transformer?.  Also, will there be any issues using 50hz not 60hz?

Looks like a simple wire change on the mains transformer. Suggest that you download the service manual!

i've finally gotten around to doing this ... just after a little hand holding to make sure I do it right.

Here are some pictures of mine as it is as a 110v ... I'd love to see someone's 240v version before I start cutting and resoldering.

If it's a DC motor (which it is) no problem. If you change the AC voltage on a AC driven motor (like the Beogram 4002) then you surely will hear the results. That's what I've all learned during my membership on this forumSmile

    Beovirus? What's that?

Aren't the voltage setting done on the transformer primary ?
I don't remember if it is, but if it's done on the secondary as you show, what you suggest looks right.

    This is my plan ....

    CAUTION!

    This is secondary side!!

But doing the same on primary side would be the reverse:  converting 220 to 110V.

Each winding has to get 110V so no paralleling but serialling the windings.

This is RX2 supplement but I think valid for BG5000 too.

EDIT: Martin you would be right for secondary side modification but I've always seen voltage conversion on primary side only, mostly because of wattage...

    Exactly.
Could you please provide a photo of the primary side ?

Thanks Hemenex ... that seems to make a lot more sense and the diagramme seems to confirm it.

I'm not near the deck now so I can't have a look and take more pictures. I'll have to do it in the morning.

I light of this near miss I'll let you guys have a look over my new plan before I do something drastic.

Thanks again ... its great to have so much experienced help so close at hand.

    Cheers

Wasn't that easy as there is no chance to get the primary side without removing the transformer Surprise

But I luckily have one for repair right here so I took the chance - here it is:

    (remember this is 220V setting)

HTH & good luck to Jeremy

Re: Change voltage of beogram 5000 from 110 to 240

Yes, the voltage setting is done on the primary side.
You will have to move the red'ish brown lead and establish the connections
    shown in the diagram.

The secondary side is fine and should not be touched.
