    Beogram cdx

    Hello

I'm working on a CDX cd player bought from LifeStyle, optically in beautiful conditions but not working (I payed a very little price for this unit) . Recapped and resoldered the unit starts to play, seldom the "?" simbols appears on the display during the focusing state, so I have to restart the unit.

Now I want to adjust the focus bandwith, I have a good oscilloscope now Yes - thumbs up and a signal generator Geeked BUT I don't have the test disk called "3634031"... I have some Panasonic/Technics test disc and I want to use them so I need to know what kind of signal is present in the track 1 of the test disc 3634031.

    Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance (but I'll tanks again if someone help me)

    Eugenio

    ciao ciao

A song of some kind, presumably. The signal is not the important thing. The important thing is that the disc is definitely free of errors (no commercial discs are) so that you get a perfect cats-eye pattern on the scope when measuring on the digital out.

Hello I corrected the spindler height and the focus offset and the focus bandwidth using as reference feedback the eye-pattern. I adjusted the laser output too to have the Eye pattern at 1Vpp.

Now the cd player works great, tracks are find correctly and the traking works well BUT... The "?" ("error" on others display) still appears.

The scenario is this, the cover is removed and I put the clamper manually on the CD and then power up the unit. I noticed that when the "?" appears is after these operations:

    1) Focusing state

    2) Spindle start

    3) Toc reading => here the "?" appears.

I noticed that if I power off the unit and remove the cd and put in place again the problem is solved and when repowering the problem doesn't appears anymore.

Could be an angle setting problem?

Is there on sale the glass disc and the mirror?

Thanks a lot from the CDX too Drinks

I solved the problem, the error was in the turntable height adjustment made before (by me).

    Beautiful unit!

    ciao ciao

    Good job !

You ask about the glass disc and the mirror. I take it that oneof these will be the touch glass panel at the front where you operate the CD X. I am almost sure that no parts are available from B&O anylonger for this model. I would love to be proved wrong, though.

If the glass disc is the one that is referred to in the service manual for use when doing ground-up adjustments, I am not sure if B&O can still supply it.
