Dude1: Oh dear, we are all feeling a little unkind today. Lets all be more serious about it.... While there is a lot of speculation in this thread, which has indeed put a smile on my dial this morning, let me tell you some facts. - The BangSound 5 is going to be a cracker. It is an important piece of the Bang line up and the fact it has been held back underlines this fact. There are many people making sure that this is going to be quite special.
- The BangVision 7 will be avaliable soon (ish) with no DVD player if required.
- Bang cares about you, its customers, whether in DK or otherwise, old or young. It is listening.
- Some prices may drop, some may increase. Increases are beng fought.
- Give the CEO a bit of time.....he's new.
- China, only some (SOME) small components are pre assembled there for mass requirements. A TV is made there too....forget the one.....8 or something (But its not bad..is it?) Bang will not be leaving Struer or DK in a hurry thank you all very much.
- Smile.
Oh ok, only small components in China!! wait and see. That does put a smile on my dial as you put it!

Dude1: Great point! But i think Bang is already one of the most green electronics manufacturers avaliable today. - Bang extensively uses recyclable aluminium in most products.
- Bang uses genuine glass in its televisions. Recently it made a change in anti reflective coatings to ensure the process was still environmentally sound.
- Bang uses the cleanest anodisation process avaliable for aluminium products.
- Bang designs all its products to fit in with all environments and to be as beautiful as possible so the product is welcome in a home for a long period of time. This is supported by a backup with parts for 10+ years after the products life has finished.
- The Avant, BV5 and BV9 use wood in their manufacture, this is biodegradable and recyclable.
- All Bang products have complied with ROHS since its inception.
- Bang uses only A+ panels in LCD and (and picture tubes) which have longer life spans and less pixel loss than other panels.
- All Bang components are highest grade to ensure longevity.
- Bang encourages servicing and long product lifes with its products.
- Bang products generally consume less electricity than competitor products.
- BangVisions have light sensors to adjust picture brightness - which helps reduce power consumption when not required.
- Bang doesnt manufacture a huge product line up, therefore manufacturing waste is much smaller - (and carbon footprint)
I think when you choose Bang, you are really making a great choice in electronics today.
All products from any brand have had to be RHOS compliant other wise its almost impossible to sell it Highest grade components- well its the same components used in samsung or panasonic- B&o dont last longer! Consume less electricity!! we are getting low on good ;points- nothing to support that either! grade a panels!!! samsung dont make grade a panels many brands have light sensors to adjus picture brightness and the power savings are next to minimal

TripEnglish:Bang & Olufsen have found it too expensive to compete with the "Beo" prefix and have outsourced Prefix Production to China; hence "BangVision." Bang & Olufsen assures us that it is only purchasing the highest quality prefixes, though, which will still be on the fronts of words long after competing prefixes have stopped working and left only root words. Globalization. Go figure.

@Trip. That is a serious suit. I am hoping that the BS5 comes with a 2 way remote. It was said in the Business Week (?( interview that it is similiar to Sonos so I am hoping it comes with one. That combined with the ability to "suggest" music could make me fork over the B&O luxury tax for it and avoid Apple. Without a cool 2 way, it will be a tough call.

A serious suit for a serious man. I think that everything that I can safely divulge about the BeoSound 5 has already been divulged (as for the remaining 20%, 10% I can't talk about and 10% I'm sure I don't know). As for whether it comes with a two way remote... hmmm... I'd probably just say you won't really have to worry about that. Probably. As for the price drop, it only affects products that share a common attribute. BeoSound 3, BeoSound 6, Serene, Serenata, BeoMedia 1. Can you guess what that common attribute is? Everything else will see a price increase to adjust for currency fluctuation and production/material costs.

Is this number annualized onto the excepted duration of the product? Apple is one of the company who make constant minor modifications to their products so that consumer upgrade. I think I read somewhere, consumer are actually happy when their Ipods break as they can upgrade to the latest model. Low carbon footprint doesn't make a difference if a company drives teh customer to constant consumption and exchange. Microsoft Intel played this nicely but Apple i think manages even to take this much further. For Apple to become green would mean they depart from pleasing the shareholder. The little they do is for marketing as it becomes "hip" to watch out for the environment. http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/patagonia.go?assetid=1960 1% for the Planet. They could take old products back regardless where it was bought. They definitely have enough money to do so. JK

I don't want to get caught in a discussion about carbon footprint and the environment but I do want to point out what Apple will do for its customers when recycling. I recently bought a new MacBook Air which I really like. I then received an email from Apple with instructions on how I can recycle 2 boxes of computer hardware. It didn't matter if the products to be recycled were Apple products. I packed the 2 boxes with an old iMac and an old iBook plus lithium batteries. I also threw in 2 old cell phones, power modules, and various cables. The boxes were shipped by Fedex to a recycling facility in California. This was at no extra cost to me. http://www.apple.com/environment/recycling/program/index.html
