does anyone know of an extension cord for active speakers?

i need help!  i have a beosystem 4500 and just acquired a pair of beolab penta II 's and the din cord is 13 feet long,  i was wondering if anyone knew of a cable or connector that i could find to make the length longer?  any advise would be great!  i love this system and wanna max out on sound quality!  im replacing a pair of rl 2's with the pentas and hope there is a solution?  thanks in advance!

    Hi, and welcome to BeoworldSmile

You can get normal powerlink cables and a little female/female adaptor. This is what I use.

Your local dealer should be able to order them for you. They aren't cheap though!

Another way round this would be to buy a length of powerlink cable from your deal with no DIN plugs terminated on the ends (ie just bare ends). Cut to length, strip the ends and literally splice it into the existing cables and solder the connections.

It would need to be fully wired in order for the displays to work. This is probably the cheapest way of doing it and arguable the best way for the integrity/reliability of the joint!

    Hope this helps Smile

The powerlink barrel adapter is also available from ebay, generally in the USA.  There is a female to female DIN connector available from Maplins or Radioparts (Aus)

Just so that you know, PL cables are generally available in 5meter, 10meter and 20meter lengths...by the time you buy the barrel connector and another set of shorter cables, the longer cables may well be cheaper.  Contact your closest B&O shop and explore your options.

Unless you're dealing with cables already installed inside your walls or something...in which case, never mind.
