    Link problems

Hi everybody, I have a BV 7-40, a BV 7-32 and a older MX 4002 that I would like to connect by Master Link.

I have connected all devices together and BV 7-40 will be the "master" and I would like the other ones to be links since I have a Dreambox, a X-box and some more devices connected to the BV 7-40 that would be nice to distribute.

Earlier I have connected the BV 7-40 and the MX 4002 with Masterlink and eveything worked perfect. Now, for example, I cant get the DTV-mode to work with the 7-32 and the MX 4002.

I have tried different options ( V-OPT ) but it will not work.

The antenna cable goes from the BV 7-40 to the BV 7-32 and then to the MX 4002.

Can anyone give me some suggestions to a solution to this problem ?

    Best regards

    Hans

I think you are missing the RF amplifier...

Is the DTV tuner only in the BV7-40?

If you mean the decoder ( my Dreambox ) so yes, it is only connected to the 7-40. I also know the fact that if i would like to distribute the pure TV-signal I will need the RF-amplifier since the 7-40 doesnt let thorugh the antenna signal as for example the Avant.

But I cant understand how I earlier ( before i got the 7-32 ) could watch DTV on the MX 4002 ?

Have you set the BV-7 32 to the right Option ? (5 or 6, I believe)

    Re: Link problems

Do you mean you can get analogue TV on the MX OK but just not the digital TV signal? Have you checked the link frequency between the 32" and the MX is OK? Would the link frequency need to be set the same as the master? Have you tried with the 32" on and off?....

    Re: Link problems

Sounds like you have connected your MX 4002 to the RF out of the BV7-32 (?).

Yes, that is correct. The MX 4002 is connected to the RF out of the BV 7-32. The BV 7-32 RF in is connected to the BV 7-40s RF out.

I dont understand is why i cant get a SAT picture from the 7-40 on the screen of the 7-32 ?

    Regards

    Re: Link problems

I think the problem might be that you need to "split" the cable after leaving the BV7-40 rather than daisy-chaining. So from BV7-40 RF out you then go to a RF splitter and then from that seperate cables to the BV7-32 and the MX4002.

Also I thought with the BV7 you needed the link-amplifier in the set-up (unlike Avant/BV3) but as you had it working before with the BV7-MX4002 I guess not. Have a look at this thread for more info.

Thanks Dylan and Stefan, that is the solution for distributing the signal to more than one room.

But I still dont understand why I cant get the SAT picture from the 7-40 to the 7-32 ? If I set the 7-40 in V. OPT 2 and the 7-32 in V. OPT 6 should I be able to control the STB from the 7-32. Or am I wrong ?

    Best regards

    Re: Link problems

You are right. Should work. But dob`t you get the picture of your main BV to the 7-32 or can`t you control the STB connected to the main BV?

Maybe 2 different things. So if you have assigned your STB as DTV in the main room, try to press LINK-DTV from your 7-32. Maybe the 7-32 tries to start its own DTV...

    V.Options 2 and 6 are ok.

    Re: Link problems

Sounds right to me - unless the 7-32 should be L-Opt 6 perhaps? Just to clarify you have the cabling as in my reply above so RF cable either direct from 7-40 to 7-32 or via splitter and both TVs masterlinked?

on the bv7-32 tv, go to the menu, then to connections, and make sure there is no SCART set up for the SAT/DTV source. In that way, the BV7-32 will look for a link source instead.

    Re: Link problems

This weekend I doublechecked all connections and settings and now I get picture to the 7-32 and can also control the DTV that is attached to the 7-40. But I´m not still able to get the MX 4002 working as a slave to the 7-40 ? I have tried VOPT 6, VOPT 5 and LOPT 6.

Can anyone give me a hint what to do ?

    Best regards

    Re: Link problems

Since making all your connection/setting changes have you tried turning everything off at the mains for 10 minutes or so then turning on again (and I think turning the master 7-40 on first) to "reboot" the masterlink?

    Re: Link problems

Hi, sorry for the delay. I have tried everything as all of you have suggested, but it still doesn't work. Yesterday I ordered the amplifier from my BO dealer and I won't waste any more time on finding a solution until it arrives.

Hopefully it will fíx my problem.

    Best regards

    Hans
