Watching the football too, and my kind of music.

Question to all of you: How do I get 100+ LPs, 500+ 45s, some 300 CDs stored in one place, easy to get at and looking nice, my FS dont like LPs on floor and 45s and CDs in ugly boxes

NothingSad as my new Beovision 7 is delayed delivery due to Chinese New Year, and my Beomaster 4000 is still in Denmark, waiting to be hand carried to Singapore, but have been shopping for used vinyl and "whole lotta Rosie" is waiting to be spun, and, seaking Blondie greatest hits on Vinyl.

My LPs are currently on this.

However, one of the guys who works for me is an auction/estate sale junkie and subsequent Ebay power seller.  He came into my office this morning and says, "I bought about a thousand LPs at an estate sale on Saturday for $25.  I'll sell them all to you for $50."  I agreed, sight unseen.  I'm going to need more storage.

So, my advice to you, Soren, is build something.  You know me - that's what I'm going to do once I figure out how many of these thousand LPs I'm going to keep.

I agree with Rich. Of course the did make stereo/entertainment cabinets and shelving systems back in the day just for the purpose of storing vinyl LP's and tapes but finding a used one in good condition might be a stretch.  Building one yourself will give you exactly what you want in the allotted space per your own desire.

I remember buidling several 18x18 modular wooden cubes back in the 70's that you could stack or spread around like end tables all out of pine boards.

I also helped my brother in law build a storage space/stereo center using plywood strips painted red as shelves and concrete cinder blocks painted black as dividers. May sound a bit crude but it actually worked pretty well and didnt look all that bad when it was done. It could certainly handle the weight of all the vinyl and books and such he piles into it with plenty of room on top for his receiver turntable and casstte deck and TV.

It looked and functioned better than those cheap particle board piles of crap billed as "entertainment cabinets" that were starting to become all the rage (and still are) being sold at the big box stores now.

Use your imagination and make it happen.

This book (and its successor NF 2) were my DIY bible in the 70s: http://www.amazon.com/Nomadic-Furniture-Victor-Papanek/dp/039470228X

And Papanek mentions the Palaset storage system in his book; pre-IKEA :) but look at this ...

    http://daddytypes.com/2007/04/08/awesome_set_of_vintage_palaset_storage_cubes.php

... but in general I agree with Eugene, if you have the time and the tools and the skills, your own woodworking is always a joy

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Being from the early '70s, they are obviously dimensioned to optimally house LPs Wink A bit hard to to find nowadays though, they were another piece of Finnish 1960's-70's modern design that fell victim to the oil crisis: they became too costly to manufacture.

I wish I could listen to my 3000 in the mornings but cant as people are still asleep.

    Ah well.

Last night my iPod made a brilliant shuffle...

The list started with Two Door Cinema Club, moved to Incubus, then Third Eye Blind, Phoenix, Audioslave, Temper trap and on... That iPod was reading my mind!

One of the amps for my Pentas has been in for a service and is finally back. Testing them with the remastered copy of "Wish you were here" and some good coffee. Life is good!

    Very cool!

This morning, writing a report for work and listening to XTC's alter ego:  Dukes of Stratosphear "Psonic Psunspot," an LP I bought new back in college (1987 or 1988).  Highly recommended if you like a dose of humor in your pop music.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

Last weekend I got my CDs out from the boxes, some 300+, and now I'm rediscovering the sames, after Hanne Boel I put on Roy Orbison, then Bruce Springsteen, Born in the USA, boy I forgot what classic rock is about, To all you young people out there, check that one, thats rocking and rolling.

I will never ever use Itunes again, I will never buy an Ipod again, the sound coming out from there is nothing to compare with the sound from a good CD, a good CD player and a BM 4000, after tonight I will never pack up my CDs or my vinyl again.

Well, the FS came home again, so I had to turn down the volume and put on Billy Joel, not rock like I like it, but not bad.

You could always reinstall your CD's into iTunes as lossless files.. I use ITunes a lot simply because I can put together a day long playlist and not have to constantly change discs.

Put Beosystem 5000 to rest last week and rediscovered the wonderful sound of my Beocenter 7700. If you like vinyl and want a dedicated record player you cant go wrong with one of these.
