I'm listening to "The Bad Plus - These Are The Vistas" now. Henry, I'm sure you would enjoy that one! (If you don't already know it)

Currently listening to Aja by Steely Dan. Was listening to this on BeoLab 9s yesterday, and it sounded absolutely stunning. Now it just sounds rubbish on my B&Ws at home!

Chet Baker (jazz trumpeter) live in 1986 at Ronnie Scott's. Recorded from Sky Arts. Nice bit of jazz for a change. Andy T.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Anyone heard of Rodrigo & Gabriel? It was playing in HMV yesterday, but they were out of stock. Tom, I also had a look for These Are The Vistas, but couldn't find any of their records either.

These are the Vistas is the name of their first album. The band's name is The Bad Plus

The Cinematic Orchestra is one of the best bands that has come to my ears during the last year. A friend of mine heard them as an opener to Gonzales in Nancy (Nancy Jazz Pulsations) in 11/07 and gave me the tip. Really excellent stuff!

They really are a superb group, and excellent musicians live as well...

Nothing wrong with Daft Punk at all. I use it to keep my neighbours in line...

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
Either the cdx or the Beogram 8002. Just got the cdx back from Dillen on saturday so I'm testing it. It sounds good but Master of puppets by Metallica sounds better on vinyl. Using the timer on the Beomaster 6000 the Beogram woke me up today with side a of Shubidua 7. a Danish band.

Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?
As you regulars know I recently picked up a bucket full of vintage B&O on ebay. I'm sat here testing out a few bits & pieces with some Pink Floyd. Currently I have Wish You Were Here on vinyl playing merrily on a superb Beocenter 7700 (with MMC4) via a pair of Beovox MC120.2.s and I have to say I'm very very impressed! For anyone as yet convinced this vintage equipment is absolutely fantastic and totally addictive. Just the sheer weight & build quality gives you a jaw dropping buzz and getting the non-working ones back into service is an addiction - just ask jandyt or Craig if you don't believe me. It's gonna be hard parting with this little lot but SWMBO wants her dining table back Chris.
The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Saw them live at Cambridge - very good. They also supported Muse at Wembley last summer. Currently playing Chris Wood - Trespasser - on ltd 3 x vinyl ( new last week - LP's are forever ! ) , via Beogram 7000 - stunning.

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. Listening to downloaded copy on my PC at the moment although I do have the original on vinyl. Craig
For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then
something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We
learned to talk and we learned to listen..

Craig - Do you know Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by the late great Rory Gallagher - from his early 70's album, Blueprint ? not too similar to the Maiden song - but one of my all time favourites - heard it on tape in a scout tent in Whitby when I was 11 - hooked ever since...7quid for cd in Fopp - recommended.
