    BeoSystem 1 and Record Player/Turntable

I tried hooking up my record player, SONY PS-LX350H, to the SAT connection in the back of the BS1 and I get a lot of distortion and the volume has to be turned way up to hear it. I connected it with r/l audio monster cables but there also is a ground that is used on the turntable but there is no ground screw on the BS1. Any recommendations?

     Thank you.

You almost certainly need a phono pre-amp.  Turntables generally operate at a much lower level than other AV gear.  I found a great deal for a client at PhonoPreamps.com.  Take a look at the second item down on the right side, it did the trick nicely.

    Russ R,

Can a turntable be hooked into the Beosystem  1?  I thought it had to go directly to the stereo-audio main such as the BS 9000 or 3200 via pre-amp.

My BS 1 and BS 9000 are too far apart geographically and the BS 1 location offers more convenience for connecting a tuntable w/ pre-amp.

    Thanks,

    Roger

    diggs2701,

    Congrats on your success!

To clarify, you were able to connect your turntable directly to the Beosystem 1 via SAT connection and not through the music system?

    Thanks,

     Roger

Yes, I connected my turntable to the Phono Preamp (through RCA's and ground) and from there to the SAT connection (Using RCA's) on the BS1. It works great!
