    Troubles with BEO3200 & BEO3500

    Hi...

I am having some problems with my bosses B&O...

I was asked to have a look at it for him as its not working correctly and I have plenty of experience in AV....sadly not B&O.....

    He has a B&O Television, Beo3200 amd 2 x BEOLAB 3500....

    Problem is as follows....

Neither of the 2 3500 speakers will connect / talk to the main unit....

The 3200s main speakers are connected to the TV as Far as I can see and work ok with TV and main unit

Its possible to start a cd playing nicely on the 3200 but its not possible to get either of the 3500 working to listen in....Sometimes after a power down the 3500s will work for a while then they stop working again.....

The units have worked fine in the past so all connections must be correct....?

The 3500s have power and display the time after powering down and back up but simply will not operate the main 3200 unit..

    Any ideas please....

Please give instructions on trying any solutions suggested as I have little experience with the B&O Units

    Gav....

If these are the wall mounted 3500s then check the switches on the side to make sure audio has been selected.

Someone will be along shortly with more info!!

How old are the BeoLab 3500's ?

You need to check the Masterlink cable first which goes between the 3200, TV and the two Beolab 3500's. These plugs have many connections and may be not correctly seated.

I am assuming the master cable routing is daisychained 3200 to TV to 3500 to 3500 or is it in a star configuration ?

When you use the remote to turn on either of the 3500's does the display change from standby ?

With the radio or CD on at the 3200, press the mute button on each of the 3500's does the unit come on ?

    Keith..

    Regards Keith....

    Re: Troubles with BEO3200 & BEO3500

    Hi Keith...

    Thanks for the info....

Not sure how old the 3500s are....

"I am assuming the master cable routing is daisychained 3200 to TV to 3500 to 3500 or is it in a star configuration ?"

There is a masterlink cable coming from the 3200....There is also a masterlink cable coming from the TV...Both

these cable dissapear behind a unit I really dont want to have to move...then a cable goes out to the 3500 that

I beleive are daisy chained together.....all installed by B&O

A contractor for a TV firm cut through the masterlink cable that goes outside and up into the

loft space on its way to the 3500s....This was repaired by B&O....

"When you use the remote to turn on either of the 3500's does the display change from standby ?"

Yes....They do come out of standby....

"With the radio or CD on at the 3200, press the mute button on each of the 3500's does the unit come on ?"

Have tried this but they simply wont play the chosen source playing on the 3200......

The thing thats strange is that when powered of sometimes and only sometimes the 3500 both work

for a limited period of time....IE...once then when turned of thats it again....

    Cheers for the help....

    Gav,

Given your answers and the fact that the units work once after powerup leads me to believe that one of the two wires which makes up the control signal on the Masterlink is open. See Masterlink wiring diagram below

    Masterlink Diagram

Do you have access to a multimeter so we can do some tests ?

    Re: Troubles with BEO3200 & BEO3500

    Hi Keith....

    Hope you are well.......

    Ok.....Its all sorted fingers crossed.....

We took doen the 2 3500s and cleaned and re seated the multipin connectors...

Did the same with the TV and the 3200......

Set them up as the options suggested......Still nothing......

So....A while ago a cable that runs outside got damaged and B&O came and

repaired it by putting a junction box on the wall outside with one of there little

    black palstic connectors......

On closer inspection the Green cable (Data +) was not connected into the

blades of the joiner box....Once re-connected it sprung into life...Smile

Powered all units up and set options.....

    TV = V.Opt 2

    3200 =A.Opt 0

    3500s = L.Opt 6

I am going to lose the B&O connector outside and do a better job inside

    an MK external box...

    Cheers for the good advice.....

    Gav.......
